That you belong to a group that promotes communication between people of different races, nationalities, and religions. That group is Yahoo Answers! Of course volunteering for a worth wile group wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Yet another high school student who did not listen when we said in grade nine "Get Involved!!!!" and it is now coming back to bite you in the butt!!! Suck it up princess!! If you had listened in the first place, you wouldn't be in the predicament. They will find out as I get universities and collages contacting me about student applications and I, like and good counsellor, will NOT lie when asked about your involvement. Many a kid has been caught fudging their application and then they have NOOOO chance of getting accepted then. However, there is hope on the horizon. It is never too late to get involved. Find something you like and do it. Do it often. Quit living the life of entitlement and get off your butt and do something. I have a student who works part time, mentors an elementary student, played volleyball while having the lead in the school play, played basketball, did his school required community service hours, did track, and attained a 90% average! Enough said!

I would advise against lying, because it usually comes back to haunt you. For instance, they might ask for more information about the experience, why you chose that, etc. and it can become very difficult to lie about it. If you want to take the risk, though, that's your prerogative. I would recommend that you volunteer once or twice at your local community centre, place of worship or join a club at a rec centre or at your school -- that is if you're presently attending school. If you don't have time for that, though, then you might want to think back -- maybe you helped a neighbour, teacher, or family member with something that you deemed inconsequential at the time.

You have never been on a sports team, debate team, or took dance? Never part of a scouting group? Part of a bottle, clothes, magazine, or food drive for school, scouts, or the needy? You never helped anyone, ever, that you didn't know? You have never set foot in a church, temple, mosque, or other religious place on a regular basis? Think about these things. You have probably done something that would qualify unless you only stay home, watch tv, play video games, and surf the net.

Don't lie. Tell the truth, then volunteer. Your life will be better for it.

They will find out and then what?
Do you want to lose that spot?
