i just don't understand how celebrities can spend millions of dollars on hair and make-up and outfits for big events, but can't even spare a few hundred dollars for charities or someone that really needs help. if they are going to spend heaps of money and time on a huge televisioned extraveganza coudn't they maybe cut back on lights or the unnessesary extras so that they could use some of the money to give some people a once in a lifetime experience, maybe we could help poeple see it, that would make a special but unfortunate someone extatic!! can you imagine the faces brightened, people smiling ear to ear, i think that is better than money, a sad child smiling is worth so much, i think we need to convince celebrities to use their power for good and to help the world because THEY CAN!! if i had that power i would use every bit of it to help anyone who needs it. please help! how can we do this??

Many celebrities do give anonymously, but also, if you pay attention while watching game shows, celebrity events and certain programs, you will learn that the winnings and profits of the celebrities go to their favorite charities, or for the charity the event is sponsored by.
Celebrities draw money for and attention to charities just by being celebrities. The attention they gain from red carpet events not only helps their carreers, but it also helps charities by association.

Go to sites such as imdb.com to look up the trivia section of movies your favorite celebrities. it won't take long to find out that sometimes, celebrities donate all or part of their wages to charities from some of their films.

Not many of us would give up several days wages to a charity.

One way that has worked is to contact celebs you are a fan of and let them know you are a fan. Then tell the story briefly of a charity you care about with emphasis on the human interest side and ask them to help with something specific. You should talk to the charity first of course and see what they need. The more personal you can make it the better. It is a good idea to ask for something relatively small that takes a little personal involvement the first time and hope that this experience will reach the celeb and touch their heart. If you can include a picture or pictures with your request that will help. So will tying the request and the charity tio something you know as a fan that this celebrity is interested in....for example a jockey might be a natural to approach for a thereuputic riding program, an actress who goes nowhere without her dog would be a good one to ask to help and animal program, an actor who plays a father on TV might be a good one to ask to help a children's charity, a band that has a lot of teen fans might be a good match for a teen center. Let them know anything that will help them get publicity in doing this like that the group would put it in their newsletter or web page or that you and the charity will ask the local radio and TV stations to cover what they do.

Another way to do this is to start with the media. Contact a reporter who covers sports or entertainmemt or a station manager and ask their advice about how to get help from some of the celebs they cover. Find out from them who is coming to the area and then ask that celebrity to do something for the charity while they are in town. You'll get some turndowns but you'll probably get some yeses too.

Thank you for caring,

How do you know how much they give? And why do you think they should give more? The majority of the time, they give an annonymous contribution so people won't bug them about it. Maybe they will only donate to certain causes for personal reasons. It's their money to do what they want to do with it. If they would publicly donate to a cause, every time there would be a cause to collect for, their phone would never stop ringing.

celebrities do give a lot of money to charity. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean they dont give lots of valuables to charity. They also give their time to events, campagins and other charities.

besides its their money they can spend it however they damn well please...it has nothing to do with you. Go help some orphans instead of sitting at a computer if your so concerned about the well being of the world. And i dont believe your so riteous...you would be spending your money on a ferrari and luxury vacaition....please.

Consider that it might be their agents and producers paying for all the fancy cars and dresses and so on... if it helps "sell" them, it's in their best interest to do so.

And anyway, it's a crap shoot to be a celebrity anyway, and it can come and go in a flash... thus the attitude of spend it now.

I may agree with you.But these people are into there careers and looks.Mostly because their fans expect them
to look good or they will be forgotten. Some celebrities actually do contribute to charities.Either way It's their money not ours.

I agree with you. I can't understand how they can drive by the homeless in their BMW, and not feel an ounce of guilt. Celebrities are seriously overpaid and they should do something to help those who have nothing.
