I just got the Zondervan NIV Student Bible Compact Edition a little over a year ago, and it is falling apart. I'm looking at replacing that Bible with a new Student Bible, but I was looking for suggestions.

Right now, I have the Compact Italian Duo-Leather in the Blue/Green. I really love how that Bible is with the Guided tour and everything. My previous Bible was the NIV Teen Bible which I have outgrown.

I need to have a smaller Bible because I keep it with me in my purse throughout the day. Do you have any suggestions on good student Bibles that will withstand a LOT of use and that I will not outgrow in the very near future.

I really like little guided tour information and extra commentaries within my Bibles.

Thanks so much for the help everybody! =]

my bf and i always argue about religion..i am catholic and he is a born again christian..he is a very strict one..(i dont know why but i think its because his mom and dad used to argue alot about religion too..his mom is jehovah's witness and his dad is born again christian aswell..his mom and dad dont argue anymore these days, i am not sure but thats what he told me)..and they all used to be catholics!

anyway, i am confuse, my entire family is catholic, not very strict though.bapstized catholic..always been in a catholic school since the frst day of school until the last day of highschool..first communion..confirmation..
i still respect our saints and Mother Mary, however i dont pray to them..i mean I only pray to God..
i have forgotten how to pray the rosary..ie the mysteries of the rosary and the prayers after the 5th mystery

I am disgusted with the true origins of this holiday and how this christmas does not really honor Jesus Christ at all and how the world would rather follow the traditions of men than obey the commandments of Jehovah God.

But I also have a problem. my mother's side of the family chooses to only get together once a year and it's on the pagan christmas day. what do i do?? I also have a young son, i don't want to confuse him for I am going to teach him the truth not pagan stuff. i also don't want him to never see the family either. But would being there make us a participant in the holiday? I don't really know how to go about this. How can I go about this with out offending them and causing them to think that we are just abandoning them?

those who also choose not to celebrate answer only please. thank you.

When I am with friends, sometimes the guys talk about sports, which I am very quiet when the discussions are happening. I'm not a big sports fan, never have been really. I mean, I enjoy basketball, but I'm mostly a casual fan, as I don't know a lot about the sport. Same with other sports I like, like MMA or boxing. I enjoy watching them, would get DVDs and all, but I know very little about them. I don't join in on discussions about football, basketball, etc. Is it the male stereotype that all men have to conform to? It's also the same thing when I was in high school, people said I should go out for football because of my size, but I am not an athletic person either.

I went to a baseball game a few years back and both teams held hands and prayed for god to aid them before going on the field to compete.

When whichever team won, they thanked god for answering their prayers.

So the other team wasn't good enough for this "loving" god that supposedly is not going to judge us until the end?

I would love to have seen them get up there and say "I would like to thank god for aiding our team, as we obviously love him more than the other team."

What a great god you all have!

I understand that for some being Catholic or Jewish or Mormon or (Insert religion here) is a cultureal heritage rather that a personally chosen belief system but would someone please explain the propensity of so many Catholics in America to personally disagree with fundimental doctrines of their church and still refer to themselves as Catholic?

If you believe a God or Gods is responsible for the creation of humans, why would they be made to die? Also, why the 50-80 general age range? Why don't humans live to be 300? If you don't believe humans were created by God, but believe in a God, what are your thoughts on human death?

Also state your religion.

Suppose your teenage son was a normal kid, had a bit of an attitude, and occasionally did things you forbade him to do like staying out too late - but he wasn't really EVIL, just a normal teenager? And suppose you knew that he was headed for an eternal fire - he'd never be killed, just be horribly burned forever and ever? And suppose further that you had the power to prevent this from happening. Would you do it, regardless of how angry you were? (I mean, eternal fire for coming in after curfew is overkill, don't you think?)

If you would prevent the eternal fire from happening to your disobedient son, then you are more moral and good than the Biblical god.

If so, did Jesus come to save the apes from their sins as well?

This is actually a serious question. But humorous answers are accepted as well (as long as its in good taste). Just behave people. Behave. LOL 8^O

Matthew 11:11

“This is the one about whom it is written:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare your way before you.
Amen, I say to you,
among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist;
yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

So where does that leave us who also believe in God and Jesus, who don’t even come close to the goodness of John the Baptist.?

I always thought I would be a least in heaven, not deserving of a mansion, I’d settle for a rock by a spring.

Or Are we all considered the least in heaven? ( Except the major saints, who I thought John was). It’s left me a little confused. A little clarification is all I’m asking for.

I bent over backwards to get him what he wanted last year, it really hurt my feelings on Christmas morning when we were opening presents. It's like he just went to the store and threw stuff in the cart. Is it wrong that I'm afraid it's going to happen again this year? I got him exactly what he's been asking for and he has no idea. He's going to be elated Christmas morning.... why can't he do the same for me.
I know he listens to me! I remembers everything that I say so what is his freaking deal!?

Quick poll: What is your religion and do you have any idea what I am talking about or why I would be so happy that there will be no official congressional holiday/recess?

Heaven, Hell, on Earth, I mean honestly......

What if your loved ones were in the opposite place?

Maybe it is a good thing that we eventually perish and go from world to world.........

What areas or how close does it have to be to be considered an invasion of personal space? I feel really uncomfortable when someone puts their hand on my shoulder or knee and if you are so close "kissing distance" of my face when speaking to me then it makes me want to scream: "CAN I GET ME, ME BACK!" Lol :)
