I went to a baseball game a few years back and both teams held hands and prayed for god to aid them before going on the field to compete.

When whichever team won, they thanked god for answering their prayers.

So the other team wasn't good enough for this "loving" god that supposedly is not going to judge us until the end?

I would love to have seen them get up there and say "I would like to thank god for aiding our team, as we obviously love him more than the other team."

What a great god you all have!

God probably answers the prayers of the team with the better hitters and pitching.

When I was in college I used to pray for good grades on my exams. It was amazing, but it seemed the more I studied, the more prayers got answered.

They say that God answers all prayers in one of 3 ways.
1. Yes
2. Not now
3. I have something better in mind.

You have it wrong. God answers all prayers. The game was fun, right? Everyone was safe.
He IS a great God!

YOU SAID THEY ASKED GOD TO AID THEM. He did. He helped BOTH teams to have a good game.

Get it? Do you comprehend? He DID aid them in the competition.

At no time did you say they asked Him to let them win.

HE DID answer prayers. He helped both teams.

Jesus taught us to pray for God's will to be done. Not for advice on this little matter, not for Him to fix that problem, and definitely not for Him to choose between two options.

We were taught to pray for the whole will of God.

The first prayer Paul ever prayed to the Lord Jesus has never been improved on. Outside Damascus, as he stared into Heaven's blinding light and heard the voice of the risen Christ, Paul said, "What will you have me to do?" (Acts 22:10)

That should be the earnest prayer of every sincere follower of Jesus every day of our lives.

Jesus taught us to pray, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." It has nothing to do with loving God more than the other team. lol

In fact, he doesn't decide to answer one or the other. God isn't a short order servant. Rather than praying for what you want to happen, you should pray that the right thing happens and that you're strong enough to handle it.

God will answer the prayers of those that are not intended for selfish gain. My God is not Santa Clause, He's not there to give me everything that I want but He's there to give me that which I need.

It's easy, He answers them all. Some He answers "yes", and some He answers "no".

However, I seriously doubt that God helps people win ballgames. I think He has better things to do. Players just think that thanking God makes them look better. In other words, it is making a show of being humble, which ironically is expressly forbidden in the Bible.

God doesnt "choose" whose prayers to answer. he hears all prayers. thing is, some arent sincere. and the bible clearly states that we must pray out of faith and sincerity. also, there are some things that we pray for that we dont need, so therefore, God doesnt grant us of those request....because eventually, he'll have something better in store for us

This is the type of stuff that gets you ridiculed and called an idiot...

I'll be the first to remind you...you're an idiot...

God doesn't choose whose prayers to answer in any manner than to ignore prayers that do not conform to the proper manner in which a prayer must be presented...

You may be reading too much into a basketball game. No one was killed playing it? God was there.

he doesnt.

if you believe in god, then as an all knowing and unchanging being, why would he be susceptible to change on behalf of someones prayers?

prayers would hold no effect one way or another.
