If someone was buried in our time and returned from the dead?

2007-12-18 04:50:59 · 5 answers · asked by lisa blessed 1 in Religion & Spirituality

I have grew up in a family that had ALOT of problems. There has been incest, child abuse, spousal abuse, drug problems and I can keep going on. I didnt come from a good family.

The common thing I have noticed amongst other black families that I grew up around is that they will constantly sweep their issues under the rug. When I told my grandma I was molested she told me not to tell anyone. I knew that was wrong.

My grandmother said in Alabama black girls would get raped but they wouldnt tell anybody. She said its better to keep your mouth shut about family problems and other issues.

Can someone please give me some insight? Why do black people sweep their problems under the rug?
This is not in my head and I have seen this more than once. There is probably a very good explanation for this.

i think he has a very good point, and it should be spread to all the different types of media, radio, tv, movie.
why dont you parents, you gaurdians, you people, complain and try and boycotts when you can just not watch it, not have your kids watch it, why do have to try and control and ruine everyone elses life?
if you want restrictions, restrict yourself and family. people should be free to watch and listen to whatever they want to.

If you have never seen, heard, felt or touched HYDROGEN, how do you know that it doesn't exist?

This question yesterday was implied for atheists, and judging from the answers, atheists are incapable of believing in hydrogen because they're waiting for someone else to prove it exists (and they usually disqualify evidence beforehand). Christians, on the other hand, seem to be open to the evidence.

If I had asked about hydrogen, how would an atheist answer?
Consistently or with prior bias?

I used to think Christianity was all about love and forgiveness but since I started reading here, I've realised it's a lot to do with being judged and sent to Hell, for silly things like sex before marriage. I never met people like it before, so never knew that was part of Christianity, I thought it was loving. I think either I am not a Christian, or I belong to a different sort of Christianity, because I think Jesus is good, not evil and cruel. I bet I'm not the only one who is being put off, and I bet God's not pleased about it too.

I'm reading the Chronicles of Narnia for the first time and I got to the part where the Beavers explain that Lillith was Adam's first wife, but their children weren't human. I've heard of Lillith before but I can't remember where. Any help would be appreciated.

I heard an African-American man say that in his view, alot of American Caucasian women are curious about African-American men. Do you think this is true? All are welcome to answer.

If you are an American Caucasian woman with a curiosity about African-American men, would you talk about said curiosity with as much detail as possible. Thanks in advance to all who answer.

I had heard it has something to do with Tree Spirits and Scandinavian culture. You always hear of people "knocking on wood" but don't know why.

I asked a question about whether racism has gone too far in the UK. In the question I mentioned that two humans were of "nationalities". I have now been slated as a racist for designating them of nationalities rather than calling them humans, and told that to say someone is from any nation is name calling. For anyone who I offended by mentioning names of countries or suggesting anyone came from any particular country I apologise. I mentioned the words Christmas tree also. For anyone who found that offensive I also apologise.
I got called a "blue blood" (whatever that means), and a British bigot who is responsible for personally invading a country whos name I cant mention as that is racist. When I mentioned my ancestors were from several different nations I got told that to even mention it proved I was racist.
I give up. I am now officially designating MYSELF of no race, I dont even want to be a member of the human one. If I have to be in any race at all it's the 100 metre hurdles.

it is all about puting the evil one under your feet, and learning to walk Like Jesus, TO BECOME PERFECT. FOR EXAMPLE.

a man sins till he is 30, God perfects him on earth because man surrendered all unto God, his mind, his life to follow the path of righteousness. So if man lived(or taken) till 120 or even 1000 he never sinned again. For he walks with the knowlage and heart of God. So for 90 yrs or million yrs he never sinned again and sin was defeated, and God gave him the glory of heaven for he is among the righteous.

Now the purpose of the cross is, you keep sinning and Jesus was sent to die for you. You never BECAME perfect, but became perfect with Christs BLOOD. So you sin all your life never worthy of heaven, but Gods grace was sent to set you free. GOD HATES sin.I am sure he does not want sin in your life if he truely love's you and must have a way to "truly" purge the sin out of you, without anyone getting hurt? Yes I mean his son Jesus.for he was nailed to a cross to free U.

A mulsim/wiccan/budist/statanist etc is building right now beside a church and is openly handing out litrature to promote themselves and attracting the young people

That would be religous freedom no one is taking the rights of the christian away

But isn't that sort of religous freedom the last thing the christian wants ?

It must be a major conflict of interest for them

So if you want religous freedom isn't it wise to keep religons like bible thumping christians out of politics as best as possible in order to have and protect religious freedom?

The bible says he created the universe by speaking it into existence... effortlessly.

But in order to undo the damage to our souls from sin and to rescue us from the judgement and punishment of it, God had to be born on this earth to suffer and die on the cross. The Lord sweat blood thinking about how awful this torture would be, in Jesus we see God expending his energy like nowhere else in the entire bible - including creation, the flood, parting the red sea, healing the sick etc.

Jesus's death on the cross was the most difficult thing that God had to do (that is among what is recorded in scripture).

What do you think about that?

Should Hollywood pass more anti-adultery laws including depicting that on soap operas five days a week?

Should some of the characters in the Homer Simpson episodes be censored as to what they are allowed to say, that is, should Homer Simpson be treated like the Golden Compass/Harry Potter type movies?
