Not necessary - unless you have a personal friendship/relationship with them and WANT to get them something. The normal feeling is "gifts come down the ladder, not up!".

Not necessarily.. but in general, a gift should always be given to your boss for the holidays, especially if you have been working with him for a long time. Best Wishes!

You don't have to...but it is always nice should you get a bonus to take up a group collection and buy the boss something.

We did that where I used to work...we all got $100 bonuses, so we bought him a really nice briefcase. It seemed the right thing to do since he was so generous.
