The bible says he created the universe by speaking it into existence... effortlessly.

But in order to undo the damage to our souls from sin and to rescue us from the judgement and punishment of it, God had to be born on this earth to suffer and die on the cross. The Lord sweat blood thinking about how awful this torture would be, in Jesus we see God expending his energy like nowhere else in the entire bible - including creation, the flood, parting the red sea, healing the sick etc.

Jesus's death on the cross was the most difficult thing that God had to do (that is among what is recorded in scripture).

What do you think about that?

Great insight. It is much easier to move mountains and toss them into the sea than to move the hearts of men (including myself). Praise Jesus that He loves us enough to do the really hard things to bring us to God.

BTW, its questions like this that remind me why you are one of my "contacts"! :)

I understand what you're suggesting, but the physical torture is not the issue. Jesus was born to die. He came into the world to die. He was prepared for his death on the cross, regardless to any physical pain involved. The difficulty in being born and all the rest of it does not compare to the emotional impact of being separated from God, which Jesus had never been before. Jesus was without sin. Yet, he became sin for us, which separated him from God for those few moments in time. This is the compelling part of his sacrifice--that he was willing to be separated from the Father, to atone for our sins.

I think that a being that could breathe the whole wide world into existence...should have had the common sense to know what would become of it.

What did he do up there? How did he go about the Jesus decision? Was he all like" Oops I messed up. That Adam and Eve had a bad batch of humans. They are all a bunch of low down sinners. They aren't even worshipping me. What to do? What to do???......Oh I know JESUS come here please. O.K. here's what's going down. You being my only son have to go down there and do me a favour. I need you to be a human...don't look at me like that it's only for 30 years. Now I want you to tell them that you are my son..you'll know when. Then you teach them how to go about living their lives MY WAY. None of this free-will nonsense. Then you can come home. I should let you know this isn't going to go very well. You'll have to be nailed to a cross after about 4 hours of torture. You can do that for Daddy can't you son? Good now on the day ......3 yeah 3 you can use your powers and rise again. O.K here are the directions to your earth mothers house. She's expecting you. God speed!"

What's so hard about dying? Hundreds of thousands of people die every day. Some in much more painful ways that Jesus could have ever imagined.

Plus Jesus got to come back to life and has been living in Heaven for the past 2,000 years. Exactly where is the sacrifice??????

How long did it take "God" to make dinosaurs or invent Carbon Dating? Who or What is "God"? Are the Native Americans wrong in their beliefs? How about the Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses ? Give me a break with all of this stuff. It's called SCIENCE. God didn't make that computer you're using, SCIENCE did.

So, an all-powerful, all-knowing being [who knew he could over come death, because he's uber] only had to suffer 33 years of an infinitely long life span. You realize comparatively, that's the equivalent of a minor paper cut.

Wow, God IS a sissy.

So if all of our sins have already been healed, and as such we'll all end up in heaven, what's the point of all the fire and brimstone talk about being sent to hell? Merely fear tactics for control? It seems so.

Yeah, I agree with you. But God loves us so much that He gave His only Son to forgive our sins.
