I had bought my parents a new microwave for a Christmas about a month ago and now, a week before Christmas, my mother calls to tell me that they just bought a new microwave. Now, I need to unwrap their gift, return it and buy something new.

The price point is around $180 dollars, any ideas what I could buy for them now?

Thanks.

This person is 28 and has never been a religious person. He is dealing with a bout of depression at the moment and I'm trying to help him. Problem is, he is halfway around the world and i can't ever talk to him. What could I send, along with a Bible, to help him? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

stained glass and fruit carving are amongst my favorites. Oh, and candle making.
Do you still do crafts?
I make nautical jewlery with sail twine(waxed hemp) and sea shells. I plan to make my niece a pair of bottomless shoes, macramed with tiny sea shells.

Why were the astrologers able to communicate with the stars to find where Jesus was and present him the gifts? Matthew 2:7-10, "Then Herod secretly summoned the astrologers and carefully ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearing; 8 and, when sending them to Beth′le·hem, he said: “Go make a careful search for the young child, and when YOU have found it report back to me, that I too may go and do it obeisance.” 9 When they had heard the king, they went their way; and, look! the star they had seen [when they were] in the east went ahead of them, until it came to a stop above where the young child was. 10 On seeing the star they rejoiced very much indeed"

Why did God warn us against going to magic practicing priests and fortune tellers if they weren't real? You mean to say God can't distinguish between trickery or "Illusion" and real magical powers?

Christians please explain. If you believe in evolution, why the need for a god. If all life took was time, and random chance changes, why bother with any form of faith? Is God not, pointless?

At school we have devotions and my friend refuses to congregate with the crowd.
They also dont celebrate Christmas and Birthdays, which i know but they dont really go out and talk to people only unless they want to convert you to their religion.
What do you think?

I've noticed that a lot of my friends act in extremely similar ways, are attracted to the same poeple, do the same things for fun, look kind of alike, etc, etc. I've also recently switched schools and the friends I've made at my new school also act in similar ways that my friends at my old school did. And the majority of them have never met each other. Opinions on this matter?

I understand that people who believe in god do not all have the same conceptions of god. Some believe god is active in the daily lives of all people while others believe that god created the universe and left other processes to direct the historical shaping of the universe. There are as many different conceptions of god as there are believers.

What I'm interested in knowing is why do you have the specific beliefs that you do? Did you come to them by reading religious texts? Did a family member or friend largely shape your beliefs? Are you open to changing your beliefs? If you are open to change, what would need to happen to make you change your beliefs?

I'm also interested in knowing why you don't believe certain things. If you believe the claims in one religious text, why do you reject the claims of another?

I would be happy with any answers you could provide, and please feel free to be detailed in your answers. I would really like to know what you think.

Does evil exist?

The university professor challenged his students with this question. Did God create everything that exists? A student bravely replied, "Yes, he did!"

"God created everything? The professor asked.

"Yes sir", the student replied.

The professor answered, "If God created everything, then God created evil since evil exists, and according to the principal that our works define who we are then God is evil". The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor was quite pleased with himself and boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.

Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question professor?"

"Of course", replied the professor.

The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
