"Liar Liar pants on fire"?
My point is people tell me this based on the person I am and the things I do rather than my religious beliefs, or lack there of.
Thoughts?

I have a sister that has been the most miserable jerk to me over an extreme jealousy issue. She is so hateful I will not speak with her anymore. I just found out she is coming to town for Christmas. Now I face not going to be with family because she will ruin my holiday. What would you do?

I work in a small company and was thinking of giving some Christmas gifts (like mince pies or something else that could be bought in a nice package and shared with families) to co-workers who work close to me but are lower in rank. A couple of them celebrate Christmas too but the other two are Muslims. How (in)appropriate would it be to get them something?

At the workplace there are other three people who are higher in the hierarchy as well as the owner, all of whom are not Christian either. I don't think I should get them something, would you agree?

PS: I am new at the office, so I am not particularly close to any of them, but it is a friendly office environment.
PSII: Gift ideas or suggestions are very welcome!!!

Jesus on excommunication, shaming, banishment, shunning...

Matthew 18:15-17: "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault...
...If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a PAGAN or a TAX COLLECTOR."

Oh, you can comment on the church practices of excommunication, shaming, banishment, shunning....

You Christians say that Jesus is God.
You say it is true because you actually feel it and have a relationship with Him.
You say that He has helped you so many times and He speaks through your soul and you know that it is real.

Here comes the contradiction.

You say you have faith in you belief.
You say you have faith because you can't prove His existence.
Yet you claim that your belief is 100% real.

I don't need faith for believing that I have five fingers since I can see and feel them. Fact don't need faith to prove it.

If you say God 100% exists despite not seeing Him then you claimed God's existence as a fact. Why do you need faith if you already are so sure He exists?

So is your belief in God 100% or less?

If it is 100% then it is a fact that God exists and faith is irrevalent. That is because you already proved His existence by your relationship with Him as a fact thus needing no more faith.

So is it 100% or less?
And explain how faith is essential?

The New Jerusalem
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

5He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Revelation 21

We will spend Eternity on the new earth with God.
Jesus is going to rule the earth.

Opinions????

i've never believed in God before, and i know it sounds stupid but i feel like I really need something to believe in right now.
i've never gone to church before, but is it too late to start going? is it wrong to all of a sudden start believing in God?

It's so confusing how God could have a 'son' who is still God. The OT says there's one and only one God- God- and it's VERY CLEARLY stated. There's every indication the messiah will be a man, never a 'God-man'.

Jesus prayed TO the 'Father'. Jesus needed to study, indicating he DIDN'T and COULDN'T possess all knowledge of the world that GOD ALONE has (eg. God understood Mongolian shamanism despite geography; Islam before it existed. Jesus couldn't). Jesus says he only does what his Father TELLS him to do. All of this seems like Jesus is inferior to God, as all on earth are.

I reject Islam's obsessive intolerance-yes,I've read the Qur'an- and Judaism's rules- they seem a bit outdated, but otherwise make sense.

Can I be a Christian while still believing Jesus existed and was inspired and sent by God, continue to pray directly to God (since if Jesus is God, i'm actually praying to Jesus anyway), and accept Jesus died for humanity and was resurrected- all God's power alone?

My neighbor has tacky Christmas decorations. They include 3 blow up lawn decorations (one blow up Santa, one blow up snowman and one snow globe)

They also have light up reindeer on their lawn, as well as a mixture of white lights and then colored lights.

It's extremely distasteful.

Another neighbor of my is extremely annoyed also.

Can we write an anonymous letter to them asking them to tone it down? What do people think?

I've discovered a friend of mine is homophobic and it really bothers me that she is so judgemental. She likes my hair and asked me to tell her where I go. I told her and she asked me if my hairdresser was gay. I said yes, and she said she would never go to a gay hairdresser as a Christian.

I find her judgemental and bigotted attitude the lsat straw in what has slowly become a waning friendship. I no longer attend church. I think the church needs to love more and hate less.

I'm really confused but at the same time I feel like I don't want to be friends with someone like this anymore.

P.S. I have family members who are gay that I love very much and I am very proud of them.

Your thoughts?

I asked this under singles and dating but didn't get much response.
My ex-bf has been sort of stalking me and my friends have suggested taking out a restraining order, but I don't want to go that far just yet. The thing is, one of my friends said they get a creepy vibe from him and called him a potential rapist. That really freaked me out because he has been accused of being sexually inappropriate with minors online and called a pervert often. And he does seem obsessive in a lot of ways. Also, while fooling around he's mentioned wanting to tug my hair and spank me, which I know can be innocent, but he brought it up while talking about "punishing" me for teasing him. I told him I don't go for that thing and he acted like he was kidding but he continued to bring it up and say he only wanted to play. He also doesn't respond well to be turned down, and has guilted me into getting sexual when I didn't really want to by saying stuff like "so I turn you off?" or "dont you want to be with me
