LOL, funny! We all know that a counterfieter is someone that
tries to duplicate real currancy. But with todays' more elabor-
ate coinage and paper money, it's really difficult to make it
anymore, I'd suppose. With the band inside the paper money
and the printing is offset a bit, especially.
Years ago, they didn't have the changes we see in todays'
money. So it must have been much easier to duplicate a
dollar bill, than it is today. That band, that you see when you
hold a bill up to the light, is a more secure way of our keeping
our money in the US and not sent to foreign banks. I guess
it triggers an alarm someplace, when the attempt is made.
I'll bet the amount of counterfieters has really gone down
in percentage these last few years.

My Dad was one. Truly.
Back in the fifties he sucessfully made fifty cent pieces that he and my mother (unknown to her) spent .The molds were fabricated from plaster paris, dipped in paint and rubbed with powdered silver. My grandmother raided his workplace and destroyed the evidence.
Yes, this is the same Dad with an overflowing still in the attic and corn mash running down the closet walls.
These exciting tales are the tip of the iceburg.
