They believe in one God, and most of the things people on here have things wrong. I'm LDS and I don't think I'm bad...of course I just robbed 6 banks and ran a school bus of kids into a gas tanker truck....just kidding.

carm and ultm are anti-lds websites and twist words and lie.

www.mormon.org, ww.lds.org, and www.jefflindsay.org are 3 great sites you can go to.

As others have answer so wonderfully, I thought I would take a moment and respond to a couple of the answerer's.

Truthsayer: What clear teaching that Jesus is God? I have read the Bible and see many where Jesus speaks to God or speaks about Him being God, or the Father, but nothing that prove to me that they are the same person.

Jewels4theKing: As to weather what we get in heavem, we don't know. God didn't say. The whole we get our own planet stuff (as far as I know) is an invention of Ed Decker, who as you may not know, is ignored by most everybody as a nutcase, members and non-members alike.

You do realize that when Revelations was written that the Bible didn't exist as we know it?

Some prophets are child molesters? Got anything to back that one up?

I don't think you are right with Jesus. He was about love and you are not showing any right now.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) is a beautiful Christian religion. Because Mormons believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ and consider Him to be the way to salvation, they are clearly a Christian denomination. It is true that they are not an orthodox denomination (they are neither Protestant, Catholic, nor Eastern Orthodox), because they don't accept the post-New Testament creeds, but their Christ-centered theology clearly qualifies them for the Christian label.

You should be extremely careful when trying to learn about Mormons from others. There are many who hate the Mormons and spread lies, distortions, and conspiracy theories about them. Others think they understand Mormon doctrine because of "what they've heard," but are actually misinformed.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Hope this helps! Mormon Christianity has changed my life by helping me better follow Jesus Christ.

One of the strange beliefs that the Mormons have is that all those folks who died out there with out being baptized are going to hell, so they go through this process of baptizing the dead. That's right, baptizing the dead.
Ever wonder why the genealogy thing that the Mormons are so good at, will it has to do with this baptizing ritual they have, and so they search for all these people in the past, everyone is their goal who was not baptized who is then assigned a young person to stand in for the long dead person and go through a baptism for the unbaptized person who died generations ago, for example.
I find it really odd, but I also I think it is useful because they follow all of these family trees back as far as they can which is important information and available to everyone for the asking from the Mormons.
I think we owe them a debt of gratitude. Check it out!

If you want to know what we believe, as opposed to what other people THINK we believe, check out these two web sites:

www.mormon.org - this site is aimed at people who are wanting to learn about our beliefs
www.lds.org - this site is aimed at members but you may find useful information in the gospel library section.

WE ARE NOT A CULT! People who think this do not know what we believe or the meaning of the world cult - just because you dont understand or even agree with some thing doesn't make us a cult.

We do alot of good around the world - send thousands of tons of aid to people in need - including the people who experience Hurricane Andrew, Hurricane Catrina, the fires in Cali, and the flooding in washington or oregon earlier this year. Our member dont THOUSANDS of hours of time to make school kits for 3rd world countries, hygene kits for disaster relief, quilts for orphans around the world, the list just goes on.

If you really want to know, this page probably isnt the most objective and dependable source.. Go to their website, to wikipedia, bbc or just ask the next Mormon at your door. Or do all three. I dont completely agree with their beliefs, but they are very sincere and good people.

We believe God is our heavenly father. Jesus Christ is our savior. God and Jesus Christ are individuals, not the same person. There is only one God and that's God. We are not "bad". We have families and hold normal jobs. You probably couldn't pick a mormon person out of a crowd. We are just like you.

We are not a cult. You are free to come and go as you choose. I wish people would stop spreading lies and rumors about things they don't know about or understand.

The websites mentioned earlier are NOT true. These sites are created to put the church down and take things out of context. Please, check out the official church website for more information.

They believe when their men die they get their own planets and live on it with their many wives and children.
They also have added the book of mormon, which they have as an addition to the bible which is wrong because the Bible says: I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, GOD will add to him the plagues described in this book. Revelations 22:18.

They also believe in other prophets that were basically child molesters. If you are thinking about converting to mormonism, please reconsider. Stay far away from them. They are a cult, not a christian religion. Jesus plays a very small role in what they believe. They are all about brainwashing too. And they will try to mask their true identity and nature behind the name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Don't buy into it!

We believe in Christ.

Are we bad? Let the Saviors words decide

38 ¶ And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
40 For he that is not against us is on our part.
41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

They believe that Satan and Jesus were brothers.
They believe that what Joseph Smith wrote was gospel truth.
They believe a lot of strange things that are not biblical.
They believe that once you are married, you are married for all time and eternity and when you both die, you go to a planet of your own and make lots of spirit children.

I would not say they are bad people, but they are very badly mislead and do not know the Jesus of the bible. They are a cult and very exclusive when it comes down to their temples. Almost like a secret society. Some followers of Mormonism do not fully understand and know all the beliefs that the Mormon doctrine contains.
