I have never been in court so this is something I haven't ever had to do. I'm not a Christian, so to me, to swear on the Christian bible would be farcical and belittling to Christians (to use their holy book in such a way when it holds no meaning for me).

Why is this still a common practice when church and state are supposedly separate? Are there any alternatives? What's your view of this issue?

the earth is as relevant to the milky way as a grain of sand is to all the cumulative beaches of the earth, and that the milky way is as relevant to the universe as the same grain of sand? That being said, isnt really just arrogance to assume that we are special?

My boyfriend bought my Christmas gift but hasn't wrapped it yet. I know where it's at because there's limited space in our apartment and since I'm cleaning today he had to tell me where he hid it so I didn't go through things to clean and accidentally find it. He told me to stay out of his side of the closet.
Well, of course, NOW my curiosity is absolutely freaking KILLING me! I want to look SO VERY BAD but I know it would upset him if he ever found out I did...but I'm DYING to know, now that I know where it is! Help me stay out of his part of the closet!

to respect that?............ OK so I've been asking questions about Christiantity because I wanted to know if it was just me or everybody else thought the same way as I do. I’ve been Christian my whole life, but right now I’m really confused about what I’m envolved with... I go to this big church but I have realized what all Christians do is just look down on other religions and think that everyone is bad and they need to be converted etc … they can be selfish, liers, and if you dont do things or if you dont think the same way they do.. you are a bad person.. and I hate that.. I hate how they judge and push people to believe in what they believe…
I do believe in God I do pray.. but I dont think Being called “Christian” will save me… I do think Christians should not jugde other religions but be opned minded and acknowledge that the same way we believe they are all wrong, they believe we are wrong so it is all about faith and not judgement.

I've heard the claim that atheists must believe our lives are meaningless because eventually, no one will exist and nothing we did will matter. Even if this were true, why should that matter to us now?

Has anyone else noticed that when people pose questions on here to Christians, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Atheists, etc. that you do get answers. However when you pose a question to or about Jehovah's Witnesses they will normally say "Contact your local Kingdom Hall". Why is that? Do they not know the answers or is it like a public service announcement..."for more information please call..."? Just curious.

the word trinity doesnt exits in bible
jesus never said of trinity
then why people belive in it
jesus clearly said in the first comandment
The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord Mark 12:29

The "Trinity," or 1+1+1=1

Jesus and God can not be co-equal because the Bible says:
"... my Father is greater than I" John 14:28

Obviously if God is greater than Jesus (pbuh) then they can not be equal. We also read:
"But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son,but the Father." Mark 13:32

If Jesus and God were equal then it follows that they will be equal in knowledge. But as we can see, God is greater in knowledge than Jesus

Some questions are put out there just to get a reaction out of you, especially the ones that offer way too much information yet ask "what do I do?" Do you pass them by or give in and say something nasty? The other day I read one where he/she said they walked in to their daughter's room to find her humping their dog, what would you say to that?

I have a number of friends who go to Pentecostal, Baptist or otherwise Charismatic leaning churches.
I often hear them say "God told me this.." or "The pastor said God was talking to him about..."

I went from K-12 in the Catholic education system, and never heard people refer to God's voice in such literal terms. When I first heard my friends talk about this I was very confused.

So my question is, do Catholics "hear God's voice" in the same terms as other denominations?

Oba 1:1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
Oba 1:2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.
Oba 1:3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation [is] high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
Oba 1:4 Though thou exalt [thyself] as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.
Oba 1:5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave [some] grapes?
Oba 1:6 How are [the things] of Esau searched out! [how] are his hidden things sought up!
Oba 1:7 All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee [even] to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, [and] prevailed against thee; [they that eat] thy bread have laid a wound under thee: [there is] none understanding in him.
Oba 1:8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise [men] out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
Oba 1:9 And thy mighty [men], O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
Oba 1:10 For [thy] violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
Oba 1:11 In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou [wast] as one of them.
Oba 1:12 But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
Oba 1:13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid [hands] on their substance in the day of their calamity;
Oba 1:14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Oba 1:15 For the day of the LORD [is] near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.
Oba 1:16 For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, [so] shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
Oba 1:17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
Oba 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be [any] remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken [it].
Oba 1:19 And [they of] the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and [they of] the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead.
Oba 1:20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel [shall possess] that of the Canaanites, [even] unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which [is] in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.
