I have a number of friends who go to Pentecostal, Baptist or otherwise Charismatic leaning churches.
I often hear them say "God told me this.." or "The pastor said God was talking to him about..."

I went from K-12 in the Catholic education system, and never heard people refer to God's voice in such literal terms. When I first heard my friends talk about this I was very confused.

So my question is, do Catholics "hear God's voice" in the same terms as other denominations?

Catholics hear God's voice through the infallible teaching of God's Church, the Church to which God said "he who hears you hears Me", and "whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven", and "the Holy Spirit will guide you to all truth". Which is why the Catholic Church remains united in belief, united in teaching and united in worship after 2,000 years, while Protestantism has fragmented into thousands of conflicting manmade denomimnations in just a few hundred years. Their only way of hearing "God's voice" is "what I think the Bible means when I read it", or "what Pastor Bob thinks the Bible means when he reads it", a system doomed from the beginning to result in doctrinal chaos. Which is why Christ stated His divine will, "that they all may be one".

It may be very viable so that you can listen His voice, I have on a few situations. First, you can't have any unrepentant sin. So ensure you say sorry on each little sin. Then get as almost God as viable. Read the phrase an hour an afternoon or extra. ALso pray for an hour day or so. In prayer, ask God to disclose himself to you. Make definite you compliment Him and provide Him thank you for the whole lot for your lifestyles. Lastly, be chronic and sooner or later while you least assume it, He will talk and its an strong factor. The first time God spoke to me I was once very devout, studying the bible like a mad guy and praying generally. I was once on hearth for Jesus. I attended church and adolescence institution without fail. I even went to 2 morning offerings and a night provider. So I was once thoroughly engaged in christianity. Then sooner or later because the provider ended and individuals have been shuffling out, I felt very calm and peaceable, so I simply sat there. Then I heard a peaceful, nonetheless, gentile voice say " Do you notice that girl?" AT the modify there was once a females crying and praying. Then the voice stated " Her son is in jail" after which there was once a pause. Then it stated "I am going to support her considering the fact that I love her.". Then there was once an extra pause. After a second It stated " I am going to support you too, considering the fact that I love you". Man, that was once anything. I cried for an hour. I wish you listen Him talk to you. Work on it, its valued at it! God Bless

Baptist!!! well I never heard that before, the Holy Spirit can convict you of sin or just steer you, if you will, in the right direction. I believe that God's answers me sometimes by using my thought, like asking if something is wrong, and my thuoght straight way goes to yes or no. But I have never actually, physcially heard a voice. For those that have I would say they could be crazy or maybe they did hear something.

I'm a Catholic apostate. I never heard God's voice. Your friends and their pastors are either (a) delusional, or (b) lying. When you constantly hear a voice or voices in your head, a psychiatrist will probably diagnose schizophrenia, which, as you know, is a severe mental disorder.

If I want to win an argument with another Christian, nothing beats to be the first one to say, "God told me"! Who would ever challenge anything that God ever said!

Anyone who is close enough to GOD is able to hear his voice or get an inspiration from the Holy Spirit. It has nothing to do with religion just your closeness to God and your relationship with your creator.

perhaps Catholics hear God's voice, but don't feel the need to brag about it.

it's also possible that for them it's an everyday occurrance, kind of like a child talking with his or her parent.

When you truly believe in something, it starts to come alive in your subconscious. Perhaps in dreams, or when you "Pray". A lot of people don't realize that people who think they are sick can often make that sickness come true. It is an anomaly of the brain.

Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1:6-9).

Believe the true Gospel and not the false, and you'll hear God.
