There is a claim that those who do not believe in evolution have that viewpoint because they do not understand it. Based on some of the questions posted here, I think there is some evidence for that, so I would like to see whether the creationists on this forum have a basic understanding of evolution. Thanks for your answers:

True or false:
1) According to evolutionists, Humans evolved from apes?
2) There are many proven facts in science, but evolution is just a theory.
3) A transitional form is a fossil of an animal that is part one species and part another.
4) The age of the earth is determined by scientists solely through the radioactive dating of fossils ?
5) The scientific method begins with a prediction and then looks for evidence to support that prediction?
6) The theory of evolution includes the Big Bang?
7) To believe in evolution is to believe that life and matter came from nothing?

Thank's again for your answers.

It seems like money going into Churches is spent mostly on payroll, politics, buildings and social events more than anything else.

What does everyone think?

Asking this mainly for those who dispute evolution. If there was an intelligent designer at work, why do we have appendixes (appendices?)? They serve no useful function to modern man. Likewise, why a coccyx? Why do our feet have a pinkie toe when no weight is distributed through them? Are these intentional flaws, like in a Persian rug? Oversights? Artistic flair?

I did, I was about 7 or 8 and it happened during scripture class at school. That was back in the days when religion was part of the school curriculum. Don’t you think that for a child to imagine nails being driven into their hands by cruel people who hate them is a pretty traumatic concept to perceive?

Degree 1:
Completely closeted. Not even your spouse knows. You tell everyone you're a believer, and you may even attend church services to convince those around you. You're living a lie, terrified that someone may learn the truth.

If you fit into this category something must change in the near term. Your spouse, who loves and trusts you for who you are, needs and has the right to know.

Degree 2:
Mostly secret. Your spouse knows, but most of your family and friends don't. You avoid the subject at all costs at work, and if it does come up, you will hide your atheism.

Degree 3:
Somewhat open. Some family members and most friends know, but you are hesitant to bring it up in conversation. It's still a secret at work, unless you are very close friends with a coworker or two who know. You have friends who are atheists, and may belong to an organization like American Atheists for moral support and connectivity. You may write a letter to a congressperson, but not to the local paper, because you don't really want your atheism published. You may avoid the subject when it comes up, but if pressed you will not call yourself a believer (though you may soften the blow by using the term "agnostic" or "freethinker", even if you're an atheist by definition).

Degree 4:
Mostly open. Almost anyone who knows you knows you don't practice religion. Coworkers, perhaps including your boss, all your friends and your entire family is aware. You don't shout it from rooftops, but you make no effort to hide your atheism when it comes up in conversation, and may occasionally raise the conversation yourself.

Degree 5:
Completely open. Every time the subject comes up, you state your disbelief with pride and frankness. Anyone who doesn't like you because of your atheism is a bigot and is not your concern. You've written letters to the editors of newspapers on the topic, and you may have an atheist bumper sticker on your car.

Question: I had a conversation w/ my relatives and they were saying that all pedophiles are white men because that’s what they show on the news. One if four black American girls are molested or sexually abused by the age of 18. The average black girl does not have white men in her circle to do such and I said this and I told them that most of the pedophiles in our community are black men the only reason they don’t get caught is that the adults will blame the child and/or cover for the man who is abusing the girl. If the black community actually reported most of the sexual abuse that goes on in our communities do you think that would tip the racial scales as far as pedophiles in the news?

my husband and I just got married a few months ago. We bought a new house and recently both got part time jobs so we would feel more financially secure plus be able to save more money when we are ready for a family. Since my husband and I don't see much of each other, do you think this could lead to divorce? I'm afraid he'll meet someone at his job(s) and forget about me and eventually stop loving me. Is this a valid concern or am I letting the media garbage get to me?

"Hey, I'm open-minded. I have a few straight friends and they are fun to be with sometimes.

I don't agree with their lifestyle, but it's their choice, as long as they don't kiss and stuff in public.

I hate it when straights or anyone else throw their sexuality in our faces".

II Peter
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:"

This sounds like a prediction that people wouldn't believe in the Flood because they'll become uniformitarians, the assumption evolution depends on.

Without attempting to prove evolution, do you think this verse may have been about that?

I realise we all have differing opinions but some things are a matter of fact, surely? Earlier today, someone asked: is it true Jesus was a Muslim?

Many of us pointed out that firstly, Jesus was Jewish and secondly, Islam didn't exist at that time! Despite this, 'best answer' went to someone agreeing that Jesus was Muslim!

Do you agree that this is lunacy???!

Can the Bible be interpreted correctly only by the
Watchtower?

What method does the Watchtower use to interpret Scripture?

Does a person have to be part of the Watchtower organization to be saved?

What does the Watchtower consider as proof that they are the real Christians? Are these marks exclusive to the Watchtower, or are they shared by other religions?

Can you come to Christ as your mediator?

Does the organization or leadership claim to be a prophet of God?

Has the organization made prophecies that have not come true?

Does the leadership claim special direction from God that others cannot receive directly from God?

Is it okay to be skeptical? Is it okay to ask questions and have doubt of the validity Christianity?

If so, then is it still okay for that skepticism to lead to nonbelief? Where do you draw the line? If the only thing that is holding someone back from atheism is the fear of hell, do you still feel that it is better to cling to religious beliefs, even when it is impossible to sincerely believe every word of it?
