Christians; when you first heard the story of the crucifixion did you imagine nails going into your own hands?

I did, I was about 7 or 8 and it happened during scripture class at school. That was back in the days when religion was part of the school curriculum. Don’t you think that for a child to imagine nails being driven into their hands by cruel people who hate them is a pretty traumatic concept to perceive?

No I didn't imagine that actually, though it was obviously horrific. I was traumatized the first time I was told anything about the Holocaust when I was a little older. I kept imagining what it would be like to have my family taken away from me by cruel people who hated us. But I still think children should learn about the Holocaust--just carefully.

yes, i did imagine that too....and yes i do believe that for a child to imagine nails being driven into their hand is traumatic concept

It no doubt is. (later I realized that what the ancients called the hand extended to the elbow) It is awesome to think that the Almighty was willing to go through that that I might be saved!

What you experience is very similar to what Sain frances experienced. He identified with the struggle and the pain of jesus.

Yeah i did. It might be at my church it wouldn't because the staff explains why they did it and how they did it. (the nails went in his wrists, not in his hands)
