They have them in England and Germany. They give advice to people on all sorts of problems -- they're free and run by volunteers. How would you set one up? How do the volunteers learn what sort of advice to give? Where does the citizens advice bureau locate itself -- do they get an actual storefront?

My background is in finance and tax law, so I'd be good at helping people with those sorts of problems, but I obviously don't know the answer to everything. Maybe the key is to assemble volunteers with a variety of backgrounds so you can direct them to the right person depending on the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

You know, Thanksgiving is past, December rolls around, the snow starts falling and piling up, you're starting to hear Christmas songs on the radio, the hardware store has stocked shelves with shiny new toys, and decorations are starting to show up all around town. In school, you and your classmates are cutting wreaths and santa claus silhouettes from colored paper then taping them to the windows, and you're all gearing up for the big christmas program. The program that's almost identical from year to year. Did you ever get to be a shepherd or a wiseman or Mary? Best of all, Christmas vacation will soon be here: sledding, ice-skating, rolling in the snow, hitching car bumpers - oops forget that last one. What do you think?

I have a Remington 1922 standard typewriter that I don't know how to use. When I tried typing letters, it just punched them in the same place. Someone told me there's a lever all the way on the right but I don't know what lever they're talking about and/or what to do with it.

Atheists argue that they dont appreciate having christian morality, laws, beliefs being forced upon them via the law of the land. The only commandment i find to be instituted in our government is that of not committing murder, which i hope everyone agrees with. and i suppose the commandment thou shall not bear false testimony is in it also, theres only penalty for that when under oath or when dealing with law authorities. so which of the Christian beliefs or laws or what have you, are you concerned about?

Have you noticed in your highschool (I don't know if it only exists in Ontario highschools), that administration, and almost the entire student body and faculty are afraid to use the phrase "Merry Christmas". I am agnostic, but I used to be Christian so I will always be biased, but a few friends have mentioned the same observances. I'm not rascist or anything such, but I don't understand why everyone is so willing to say "Happy Hanukkah" or "Happy Kwanzaa", and so afraid to also say "Merry Christmas"

Lets say you meet somebody and you fall in love with them like never before. You are sure you won't feel this strongly about anybody else ever. You soon find out they are a fundamentalist christian and they think you are going to burn in hell. (but god is loving.) This person is willing to stay with you but they constantly bring up religion after they find out you are an atheist. Do you try to reason with them? Do you convert? Do you pretend to convert? Do you just go on with the relationship the way it is? Or do you run for the hills?

It was a conversation I overheard...I imagine that many Atheists must be regretful for not believing in God when they get closer to death and that's one of the reasons they adopt religion as they get older. What are your thoughts?
