I have a Remington 1922 standard typewriter that I don't know how to use. When I tried typing letters, it just punched them in the same place. Someone told me there's a lever all the way on the right but I don't know what lever they're talking about and/or what to do with it.

the bar is to the left and you push it all of the way to the right.

On every typewriter I've seen, the paper will move over by itself every time you type a letter so the next letter will go next to that one. When you get to the end of a line of type, then you use the lever to move the paper back. Perhaps your typewriter is broken?

There is usually a lever on the right that you hold in and let the carriage move to the middle. That locks it in place, so it doesn't move inside the case when you carry it. Try pushing the carriage way to the right. That should unlock it.
