I've never thought it was my job; but there have been times I've encouraged someone to tell the truth when I felt strongly it would make the situation better.

i can see the only time it would be my job would be for my kids. I'm responsible for teaching them right from wrong. Other than that....if people wanna lie then that's there choice, the truth always has a way of showing through!

I learned with my own children, one cannot "make" another tell the truth...

I'm pretty sure I tried when I was in high school, though... but just ended with frustration. Truth must be made acceptabe to those around us, then... we have no need to "make" anyone telll the truth...

I have a lot of new troops that lie about stupid things. I have to look at them and inform them of how obvious it is that they are lieing and if they continue to lie more, they then get in more trouble for lieing. Its also one of my pet peeves when someone lies about something that is so obviously a lie.

It is important that children learn to be truthful. The very best way to teach them is by example.

As a teacher, I do it on occasion. I think my biggest pet peeve is when I catch a kid doing something, and he or she blatantly lies about it.
