Everyone I know gets their trees the weekend after Thanksgiving and their's stays alive through Christmas. Ours usually dies or loses it's green early. Is there a certain tree that lasts longer? We have the tree stand that requires a hole be drilled in the bottom of the tree trunk and we have them drill the hole at the tree farm so it will be centered. If we could somehow keep the drilled out area wet on our trip back home, would that help? Our home is about a 30 minute drive from the farm and of course we have to get into the house with the tree. I would say it's usually in water within an hour of being cut. Any real and helpful advice would be appreciated. Please don't even try to help me if you haven't ever had a "live" Christmas tree.
TIA!

There is nothing "bad" in the Bible that hasn't been explained before countless times.

In 2 Kings, Chapter 2, here is a verse many people love to take out of context. Here is the verse:

2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Once again, this is taken out of context. The phrase "little children" actually means men. It's a mistranslation.

Also, the people who weren't just mocking Elijah. They were mocking God. They were cursing Him.

Agree?

Hebrews 4:9-11 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

9. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10. for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his.
11. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

If Jesus never came to abolish the laws of Moses then why do so many Christians today eat pork??

Leviticus
Chapter 11
1
1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
2
"Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Of all land animals these are the ones you may eat:
3
any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.
4
But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have hoofs: the camel, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;
5
2 the rock badger, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;
6
the hare, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you; and the pig,
7
which does indeed have hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you.
8
Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.

Deuteronomy Chapter 14

And the swine, because it parts the hoof but does not chew the cud, is unclean

If god really exhists, dont you think he created so many different types of pets for us to have more than just human companionship? My pets make me so much happier when Im around them, and I was thinking that if I were god, I would have created so many different types of pets so all people could at least feel what its like to love something.... if not someone in some manner. What is your take on the issue?

I have been reading alot of different questions and answers from people claiming they believe the bible as a record of facts and in the very next statement contradict themselves. I have read the entire bible from cover to cover a few times and some things in it are very specific, yet appears to not be of any importance, such as how to pray and what to pray for.

If the dead sea scrolls prove the bible, why are all the books NOT included that were discovered?

Any "we can agree to disagree" statements will just get a thumbs down. I really want to know if any hardcore atheists and hardcore Christians actually agree on some fundamental matters.

This woman has stolen what little money we had. Thout shall not steal? This money was to buy food, pay our mortgage, buy Christmas presents for our 8 yr old son. The police won't get involved because it's considered a "business deal gone bad". She cashed a check written over 7 months ago that was to have been destroyed. Yes we know we should have put a stop payment but we knew her and trusted a little old Catholic woman. Anyway, I am so very angry and disappointed and hurt. Not to mention hungry and cold. We are a family of working poor. I know that God will forgive her if she asks but I am being eaten up with anger that someone could and would do this. It has shaken up my faith in humanity and that makes me so sad.

Can anyone give me a prayer or a book or advice to sooth my soul? (Yes, we will be filing in Small Claims court in 2 days.)
