Just curious if anyone had thoughts on this. Animism is supposed to be the oldest of human religions still practiced today...

Just curious because often religon teaches what really is practical, i.e., abstaining from sex outside of marriage.

I kind of want to get a Bible but I don't know what kind to get! Are their multiple different versions and how do they differ. I have heard of the "King James" Bible, what is that? Was it made during the reing of King James or something? Anyways, what version do the Roman Catholics use and where can you get it?

So if some scientist think that life on earth first came from lightening striking mud (something like that), chemical evolution, or out of a sludge that oceans were made out of, why aren't these events repeated? Why was life only first originally created at one period of time, and not in a random period of time through out generations? Or is it? So what is preventing life from originating again? Also if life originated once, then doesn't life eventually run a risk of being extinct at some point?

Note: I asked this question in the SM section too, I just wanted to see what type of answers I got here.

that jesus is the only way t heaven u hav t accept jesus t enter the kingdom, then wont gods kingdom only have christians in there, and down in hell, the devil is laughing, as he is now much much stronger than god as all other religions must go t hell if were t believe wat a christian will preach, that jesus is our savior. so gods plan will eventually fail t da hands of his own son, as the devil will have some army wen he decides t take gods kingdom from him. any1 agree t this,

Think about it. In school we read ancient mythology, but somehow religious books are a taboo? Why? Isn't the Bible more relevant in our society than Poseidon? Teaching Greek mythology instead of the major world religions is like teaching students about the wonders of the telegraph in a digitial age.

im not saying i believe jesus was gods only son, but if he was, how wen god the father made the 10 commandments and many other laws that he handed t moses t tell his people, now wen my dad made rules i had t abide by them, wen i left home at 17 and moved back in at 20, my dad owned the house he had rules i still had t respect his rules and if i didnt like them i could go, i couldnt change the rules t suit myself i had t live by my dads rules. so how can jesus if he is the son, den how can he decide t change his fathers rules, and not just one he amended a few t suit himself, now surely god being so mighty, would not make a rule for children t honour and obey there parents, and den let his own son openly disrespect his laws, and lead many others t do same, somthing dont ring true here, the word of god is true, jesus word not true, how can it be.if it is true doesnt that make our all mighty god very very week indeed.

I have heard that Catholics are not supposed to read the bible themselves, such as having a personal Bible at home. To my understanding, only a priest or trained theologan can interpret it and then explain the teachings to lay people. Do Catholic people not have Bibles in their homes. Many religious people talk about reading the Bible every day, would a Catholic not read it at home but rather go to a Church service to hear the Priests interpretations? Also, I have heard that until the 1950s Catholic services were only read in Latin........so how did the church goers understand??? Do they mean the priest only read the scripture in Latin and then when he explained he explained in English?

Back to that flat again. When I pulled off the interstate onto the exit ramp and pulled over to the outside edge of the shoulder and walked to a phone, I was passed by probably 30 cars during my trek. Not one stopped to ask a granny type walking along the shoulder with her car a half-mile behind, emergency flashers blinking, if she needed help or a ride or to offer a cell phone call for her. I think that surprised me more than anything, even the flat tire!

If I was Jesus I would have said that there will be hot poker's rammed into crotches, high-voltage nipple clamps and country music played at high decibels.

I mean really, God and Jesus really aren't that creative.
