Does God punish or do we suffer the consequence of our own choices when doing wrong?

Why not just go to church? You have a big building there, public symbols identifying it, people watch you go in and come out, that's a public declaration, every week in fact. Why the extra requirement?

And please don't say, "because Jesus commanded it." You may as well be saying, "I don't know, we're just s'posed to."

My mom is the assistant manager at a hotel. I help her out whenever she needs it by being a hostess from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the breakfast room (I keep it clean and stocked and chat with the guests). After breakfast, it's my job to clean the entire hotel aside from the rooms. And I swear, some of these people think that just because you're working at a hotel you are below them...it kills me. One lady was making a mess everywhere she went and not bothering to clean it up.

Now, every now and then we'll get some guests that are just as sweet as they can be. There is one older lady who comes and stays every month or so and she's the sweetest lady. Now, if she made the biggest mess imaginable (on accident of course) I wouldn't care one bit to clean up after her...I would be happy to do it. Also, for the past couple of nights a man and wife and their two kids have been staying...they are good kids (which is very rare) and the couple is very nice. I got a dollar out of my own pocket (which really isn’t nothing, but still...) to get them a snack since the machine had ate their money. If they had been hateful people, I would have probably told them that I’m sorry and there is nothing I can do about it. Also, they had been curious about a certain attraction (a natural arch) and I offered to look it up for them and didn’t mind at all. People like that make our day. And what gets me is that my job is nothing compared to other jobs working with the public…I couldn’t imagine being a waitress.

Sorry, that’s my little rant for the day. I get aggravated every time I work there with people who are just as rude as they can be. I’m very glad I’m going to college and didn’t just decide to get a job right out of high school…

Sometimes it seems to me that when there are more pressing issues, the media begins to promote racial division. It also seems to me that we hear more about worthless crap like Britney, Lindsay and Paris. Your thoughts?

You can even smoke enough to kill yourself but the dying is a long painful process, which assisted suicide would shorten.
Does God prefer the smoking form of suicide?

Should there be a religious litmus test to be an American?

Perhaps developed by the Southern Methodist University in Texas which will likely house the Bush, Jr. Presidential Library?

Isn't it time to stop pretending to mix non-profit religions with politics and just make that decision.

Utopia - the Great Society - Theocracy - in the USA can be created by simply requiring a religious litmus test for all Americans?

So simple, so easy to bring harmony and unity to all of America?

Opposing views welcome (from those who do watch Homer Simpson and from those who swear they do not watch Homer Simpson but really do) as this is a kind of discussion forum.

Your perspectives?

1. Imaginary figure.
2.Super power called " GOD" by us.
3. Taking all wrong decisions. acting like mentally disordered person.
4. Giving lot of problems regularly to good human beings.
5. What ever good things you do. God is not impressed and giving some more problems to you. More good things More problems for you.
6. God is otherwise called "Totally confused person" Because Two persons do same good thing. One is rewarded, another one is very badly treated by the god. In the same way, two persons do some bad things. One person get punishment, another one is leading very very happy life with his wife and children and his parents. Enjoy all the things in the world. So I will say god is confused person. He didn't know how to take correct decision. He created earth. But he didn't know what to do in this earth. So whatever he likes, he do like mentally disordered person. That's why I am doing good things again and again and I will be blessed with problems. So unable to understand god

Since primitive man started walking away from the African savannah that we all (supposedly) came from... man has had a propensity for believing/creating in an afterlife/deity.

Remains from site dwellings of early man and even Neanderthals often have primitive religious figurines of female fertility deities found in them, all the way back to 50,000 years ago

With this evidence it seems more like humanity is geared and has EVOLVED an innate need for religion doesn't it???

Disregarding all of the atrocities committed in the name of how can Atheists say that humans no longer need religion when in all reality humans have had RELIGION bred into you...?

Generally I appreciate receiving a card more than a present on my birthday (or christmas). When I've put ALOT of thought into getting a good meaningful present for a friend is it wrong of me to be secretly a little offended/ungrateful that for my birthday I get what seems like something she probably had spare and wanted to get rid of and didn't even bother to wrap. I said thankyou and did mean it but I just would've appreciated equal effort.

It goes something like this
" last christmas
i gave you my heart,
but the very next day
you gave it away,
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special"

It's a really nice song, but i don't know the name of it
