You can even smoke enough to kill yourself but the dying is a long painful process, which assisted suicide would shorten.
Does God prefer the smoking form of suicide?

It's the "assisted" part that gets people's panties in a wad. You can kill yourself all you want...but if you need someone's help, well, sucks to be you. Apparently we as a society are so terrified of death that we will watch our loved ones suffer for months, even years, with no hope of recovery, rather than granting them relief through a merciful, dignified death. I find it appalling -- and downright frightening -- that I could someday have to suffer through terrible pain and misery because it offends someone else's senses to have another person administer a lethal dose of medication.

But smoking? Well, you do that to yourself, so apparently it's ok. Killing someone else, regardless of the circumstances, is just not something people can get their heads around.

How did God come into this debate? "Does God prefer the smoking form of suicide?" I really cannot see the connection.

But for your information, this is what the Bible says about God's desire as it relates to health : 3Jo 1:2 Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

That's the New Testament. The Old Testament has much more to say on health.

So, the general principle is that we abstain from that which will destroy our health. Smoking does that. Therefore, the Bible IS teaching that we do not smoke. Yes, I know there is no specific command that says "Thou shalt not smoke".

God prefers you make good choices in life and die whatever death is dealt to you. Suicide is supposedly wrong because you are not supposed to choose your death - but I disagree.

I believe we ALL should have the choice whether we want to live or die - if we are in pain or cannot live a decent life, we should be allowed to end it - with dignity and without hurting anyone else in the process.

Cigarettes CAN kill you - but not everyone who smokes gets severely ill from it - it is not a guaranteed way to die. Look at alcoholics, drug addicts, severe obesity, anorexia, riding motorcycles in the rain, walking across the street against the light on payday in front of the bank, running from the police with a gun in your hand.......... you can kill yourself using many forms of bad judgment.

WHY is assisted suicide illegal? Because the bleeding heart liberals somehow convinced the people in power that it is wrong. Personally, I resent them telling anyone they HAVE to be here - are they GOD???

That would depend on what brand of cigarettes and whether they were filtered or non filtered. Don't forget the tax factor.
Once you die you can no longer pay taxes, they would go after you in the afterlife for taxes if they could and they wouldn't bring you any smokes!

How is that assisted suicide? No one is helping you, you're doing it to yourself, by yourself. That's like saying people dieing of cancer are being assisted by their bodies, and someone can outlaw the process.

and individuals are nevertheless allowed to smog up our air with their massive polluting SUV's. And use aerosol cans that delete our ozone. And create wars, so our childrens will enlist "thinkin" it really is God's will. And overeat until eventually their heart betrays them and arrests. And drink, until eventually eventually their livers shrivel. What extremely assists in psychological and actual suicide is the dislike and intolerance of others. no longer naming names........

God supposedly granted us FREE WILL. Is it not GOVERNMENT that prefers the slower, easily identified & therefore TAXABLE forms of suicide (such as smoking)?

Smoking doesn't kill everybody it touches. Living is the greatest cause of death; would you stop babies from being born because they will eventually die?
