It's "offensive" and it's because they've never read the story and don't realize that it's just fiction. People tend to do that with books, such as the Bible.

Besides, Harry Potter has LOTS of Christian parallels: Love conquers death, good wins over evil, etc., etc. People are stupid.

I admit that I used to read the Harry Potter books, but that was before I researched the origins of the book and noted that JK Rowling used roots of actual Wiccan spells for the spells used by Harry and others. There are many different aspects to the books that are deep-rooted to the practice of witchcraft and sorcery.

Some examples included in the books are: Divination, alchemy, drinking of blood, mind-control, possesion of another's body, soul-splitting, etc. The list goes on, but you could research it yourself on-line and find more than enough reasons why the Harry Potter books are not "just to read for the story". I fooled myself into thinking that as well until I finally realized it was going against what God approves of.

You just nailed it on the head! It is due to the witchcraft, sorcery, and magic. The Bible speaks against all those things. We(as Christians) even though they are "just stories" see the huge influence they can/do have on people. I work @ a public library. You would not believe the length people(adults, too) will go to to get Harry Potter books. The Goosebumps have the same demonic message also. There is a book called the Golden Compass. I won't pass judgement there. I haven't perused it. But it gets a bad rap. We must guard our children/selves all we can. We can fight evil in Jesus' name!!!!!!!!!!!

Well alot of Christians see this as spreading the Wiccan religion, Harry potter is a witch and he casts spells and it also shows dark arts. The writer has even said she did alot of research on witch craft to make the movie accurate.Go ask any kid and see if they would like to be a witch like Harry potter and most of them would say they do, all because Harry potter does magic.Hes a kid and does so called white magic. The bible says all magic is wrong.Thats why christians don't like Harry potter, it introduces kids to witch craft.

Because it glamorizes witchcraft, trickery, and using spells as a "good" way to manipulate things. Intelligent humans know this way of thinking is unnatural and dangerous. When we use unknown forces to get what we want, we are NOT being fair - nor are we being WISE.

KNOWLEDGE is the key - NOT a magic wand or flying broom. Harry Potter stories are bad things dressed up to look nice, made to make the author very rich - - and look, her spell sure worked on YOU!

I have no problem with fantasy tales. In fact it is one of my favorite genres of fiction.
However, with the Harry Potter series what began as a fantasy gradually progressed in the series of books to darker and more spiritistic leanings. Halfway through the 3rd book my Christian conscience would not allow me to continue.

you just answered your own question. ;)

It's just because God is the only one who has the power to do stuff like that in real life and it says in the Bible "You will not test the Lord your God." If I didn't believe in God, then I would read them for sure, but I do.

Even King Solomon ( the author of the book of proverbs/Christian bible) Started studying other faiths, not to Worship to the Gods of those other faiths or to practice those other faiths but to learn from those other faiths, but his Wives convinced him to do their rituals.

My Point is their is nothing wrong with looking into witchcraft or other religions or faiths or beliefs as long as you know where your true faith is. Only when you start to turn away from God because of it is it bad otherwise it is not harmful at all. and God did not Get on to Solomon for studying other faiths, He got onto Solomon because Solomon allowed his wives to turn his heart away from God.
