the roles of dads and moms changed

2007-11-07 02:11:28 · 2 answers · asked by brixo12 1 in Other - Cultures & Groups

I pretty much have stopped talking about my personal life to my assistant (just me and her in our department) for the past year because I felt everything I told her about was an oblique attack on her part. According to her for example, my young son didn’t talk at the right age, I sold my home at the wrong time, I should have bought another car instead, I should have gone out to a better restaurant, etc. I say black and she automatically says white. Her son is a genius and I will be lucky if my son completes high school later on in life because he’s not reading and writing at 3 yrs old. You get the idea. Am I wrong not to be personal with her and keep it to business only?

...we are opposing acts he is REPORTED to have committed according to the bible. Since we are Atheists and don't believe in God, we obviously are speaking as though God existed for the sake of the argument. We don't think those acts occured. We are speaking as if they did to relate on your level and to show you the implications were those acts to have actually occured. Do we really have to state the obvious every time?

note: this question is similar to one i posted a couple days ago, but that question contained a mistake - this is what i originally intended to ask!

what's the difference between the sentence endings ~야겠어요 and ~야돼요 when ending a sentence in korean? they both seem to mean something like "have to" or "should" but sometimes people use one or the other, and i've been corrected before when using the 'wrong' one. can anyone tell me what the subtle differences are between them? how do you know which one to use?

An interesting article from the NY Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/07/us/07gaymuslim.html?pagewanted=1&th&emc=th

Despite the hardcore objections to homosexuality in Islam, even some Muslims continue to live gay lives. What do you think it says that people reject the common interpretation of God's / Allah's supposed law despite how strongly many religious people and groups try to uphold it? Even in the face of vehement insistence that homosexuality is wrong, even very religious Muslims continue to practice homosexuality. Could there be some merit to the idea that the major religions have misinterpreted how the supreme being feels about homosexuality? How do you think people reconcile their faith with their sexuality?

I'm neutral about the claims of Jesus
because I don't know what really happened.
Does that mean to Christians I'm against him?

This is an example of how letting your child continue to live can be rewarded by God.

The MDs say this kind of thing all too often. And they appear to be proved wrong more often than not. Had the parents listened to the MDs, they would have one dead child and one live one.

I love all the religious ones but there are some great secular ones. I get tickled every time I heat Mele Kalikimaka (Hawaiian Merry Christmas). Bing Crosby recorded it and you can hear it during the pool daydream in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Some of the people who post here (all beliefs) seem to have a strong hatred for anyone that has a different set of beliefs. I'm curious how many people restrict their friendships/relationships to only people that share your beliefs. If so, why? It is that you are uncomfortable with people that are different or that you have a genuine dislike of them?
