Now, I KNOW that it is written in Acts 11:26:
And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Yet, other than this, the word "Christian" is only the Bible two other places (Acts 26:28 and 1 Peter 4:16).

In 60+ other places in the New Testament, Christians are referred to as "saints"!

So, why do we call ourselves Christians?
Why do we not call ourselves saints?

Was it disciples of Christ that first called each other "Christians"?

Or was it non-Christians that first called disciples of Christ "Christians"?

My husband has two children, ages 12 and 6. Their mother decided to become Mormon a year ago when she secretly remarried (even the kids didn't know!). My husband asked her not to force the kids to go but was ok with it.

Over the summer their mom asked us to take them to church and demanded it be a Mormon church. My husband broke from the church years ago and neither of us are comfortable going. We made arrangements with a very trusted friend to take the kids if they chose to go however they said they feel forced to go and were adamant about not going. We left the decision up to them. Now their mother says we're impeeding their religious growth and that we didn't take them to spite her. My husband and I are all for religion but do not believe it should be forced on anyone, even children. Were we wrong for not taking them even though we don't agree with this church? The kids wouldn't even touch their Bibles all summer which tells me something's wrong!

Okay, so this has been bothering me for a while.

The Athiest/Evolutionist p.o.v. : The universe was created by an explosion caused from a mixture of gas or w.e Where did the atoms come from? Where did those molecules to make the gasses come from?

Religious/ Creationist p.o.v : A higher being (Zues, Ra, God, Ishbar ect.) made the universe. Where'd the gods come from? Who gave them the godly power to create and direct?!

This has been bothering me for weeks now. I know an answer can't really be given. But, opinions?

Do you think monotheist religions, (one God) will ever reach a point in history where they will become outdated with something new? Similar to the way a pantheon of gods and goddesses were replaced by a major shift to monotheism.

Alright I am a girl and i'm 16. Ever since I could remember, well like in grade 5 to grade 7 i've worn guys clothes.. then I tried girls clothes but I just don't feel comfortable in them at all. I'm self concious yes a little bit. I think it has to do with being bullied in junior high. Well I liked girl jeans these past like two years and i always used to wear sweaters, but now I wear like band t-shirts (guys) and zip-up guys hoodies. in a way i'm sortof punk but I don't like girls jeans anymore but am to afraid to buy guys pants, as I think people will think i'm dressing to much like a guy. I have lots of friends that don't care but i don't know.. Ever since this school year started i've just been wearing like track pants (rbk, nike)If anyone could help me in what i should wear for pants and whatnot and if anyone has like anything to say that could make me not so concious on what i wear that would be great.Sorry for the long question its m first one and i dont really kno wat to say.

We are thinking about naming our son Asher and are looking for some history behind the name. I know it's somewhere in the Old Testiment but I can't find it. What do you think of this as a name?

Did God change his mind or is this somehow a display of grace? Does anyone know any verses speaking on it? Thanks.-

Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. So, enjoy every moment of life.

Yesterday, responding to my question about "Where was God when 6 millions Jews were being killed in concentration camps", all Jews answered that the victims of the Holocaust had been warned by God (warned about what? Weren't they being victims of racism and discrimination around the world, especially Germany?) and therefore they asked for it.
No wonder the Palestinians are being treated with cruelty by a new generation of Jews with no respect for human life, not even respect for the 6 millions Jews killed in WWII.
That is a monstrosity.

Or religions other then yours
It seems like, for every angry, fanatical Christian, there seems to be an even angrier atheist.

I'm agnostic by the way, this is simply an honest question.

why do creationists think it is possible for an alleged flood, which lasted no more than 40 days, is capable of affecting radiometric datings enough that we would end up with measurements which prove the earth is over 4 billion years older than what most creationists estimate? as i recall, the flood mentioned in the bible dried up after less than 100 days. this would not affect radiometric datings.

I'm friends with a straight couple who have a French bulldog that snarls and barks whenever my partner and I visit, and my friend tells me the dog only does that to his friends that are gay. He says that the dog does it to only one guy that's straight, but everyone thinks he's a closet case anyway. It's so weird. I've been at parties at their house and straight people will arrive and the dog wags his tail and rolls over for tummy rubs, but as soon as someone gay arrives, he barks and barks and growls.

Can a dog smell or sense if someone is gay? Can a dog be homophobic?

I am a 14 year old girl and I want to have a "glamourous" christmas party. I had one last year, but no one wanted to play any of the games, and everybody went in the mud and tracked it into the house. Anyways, there was a lot of drama... I want to have an awesome party this year that all my friends will enjoy, any ideas?
If it helps, I am a real girly girl, and I am really into fashion, I want this party to be glamourous. Maybe instead of a game we could do some sort of contest?
