Canada as you know has their "world famous" health care system, which isnt all its cracked up to be -

But IF you live in the USA or another country, how does your medical plan handle maternity? When I had my kids I stayed in over night with my son, he was a so-called "natrual delivery" and for two days when I had my daughter, a cesarean.

A friend of mine went into labour 24 hours ago, her water broke, and she went to the hospital. Labour wasnt progressing so they sent her home, that was 24 hours ago, She is having contractions 7 mins apart and has been told to NOT come back until they are 3 mins apart. She was also told she could come for something for pain and they would send her home again.

She is a first time mother, is at home with two bozo's, my son and the babies father, both 20 something who dont have clue to be honest, she is dead tired, hasnt had any sleep in 24 hours. I was just over to see her and she was in tears, she looks like hell, but they wont admit her.

Does your everyday life bring glory to God?
Do people see the Holy Spirit in you at work and witnessing to others, or do you leave the theatrics at church?
Looking for honesty, just want to see where people's hearts are, if humble or not.

I basically asked this question before: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiYhIjBOnWizp8wSlL66CYjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071104164418AAkgsTl

But most answers entirely missed the point, so I'm trying again.

I'm trying to Understand How my husband can simultaneously be highly intelligent and logical, and also be Christian. When we discuss philosophy, his stance always ends in "faith." Meaning, his beliefs are no deeper than faith. He just... believes its the right version of reality, with no evidence for it.

What I'm good at is proofreading. Gimme a document, and I'll find any errors or inconsistancies, or alternative interpretations. Fellow college students loved me. With this talent, I found (without aid) the flaws in the Bible. Having shown these to my husband... he still doesn't waver.

As a side note, I am not a sheep (look in add details in other ?), and chose that word because of the bible.

In short: what depth exists within Christianity?

*see details*

I constantly (20-30 a day) get emails asking me questions: and no I do not have a timeshare to sell, I never ordered any on line pills, I do not want, nor need a bigger *********, I do not want a payday loan, nor do I want a equity loan, I have a few college degrees, so that is out too. I keep reporting them as spam and they keep coming back. Is anyone else plagued with these? What to do?

I have read numerous posts saying what "Christians" believe and don't believe, and most of them by protestants (who usurp the name "Christian" unto themselves). My questions is: How can you say what Christians believe? Here are some simple facts:

The total number of Christians in the world is: 2.1 billion. This is how it breaks down:

1) Catholics: 1.3 billion
2) Eastern Orthodox: 0.4 billion
3) Protestansts (Baptists, Lutherans, etc. etc): 0.4 billion

In light of these statistics, how can a group that represents less than 25% percent of Christians say what Christians believe? And, more than that, among themselves they argue endlessly because that small group is divided into hundreds of "denominations" who all disagree on doctrines. Yet they claim that the Holy Spirit guides them when they read the Bible, THE BIBLE THAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH GAVE THEM. The arrogance is stupifying. I really would like to hear someone try to answer this question.

The things that Christians say make Jesus special are the Virgin Birth, the Crucification, and the Resurection. Yet looking through History around the world there are the same stories about all of those things tied to other Deities. Deities that came long before Jesus.

Horus and Osiris from Egypt
Odin and Thor from Scandinavia
Attis, Ixion, Adonis, Prometheus, and Dionysis from Greece
Mithra from Persia
Baal and Taut of Phenicia
Krishna, Indra, and Budha Sakia, Deva Tat of India
Adad of Sumeria
Beddru and Mikado of Japan
Fohi and Tien of China
Atys of Lydus
Xamolxis of Mexico

And on and on. Why do Christians see Jesus as unique when it's obvious he's the same as all the other Deities that came before him?

(2 Thessalonians 2:1-12) . . .However, brothers, respecting the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we request of YOU 2 not to be quickly shaken from YOUR reason nor to be excited either through an inspired expression or through a verbal message or through a letter as though from us, to the effect that the day of Jehovah is here. 3 Let no one seduce YOU in any manner, because it will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness gets revealed, the son of destruction. 4 He is set in opposition and lifts himself up over everyone who is called “god” or an object of reverence, so that he sits down in the temple of The God, publicly showing himself to be a god. 5 Do YOU not remember that, while I was yet with YOU, I used to tell YOU these things? 6 And so now YOU know the thing that acts as a restraint, with a view to his being revealed in his own due time. 7

Some guy is suppose to give some presentation on homosexuality at my college, I want to go but I also don't want to go. Because I know if I go, then I'll sort be confirm that I'm gay, which I really don't want to do. I've trying to suppress it, but its really not working.

I've sort of know I was gay since 5th grade, and know a Junior in College, and still haven't come to terms with it. And it driving me insane.

I want to go, but also don't want to go, you know what I mean?

Its like if I attend (its open to everyone in the school) I'll be acknowledging that I am that way.

I was raised Baptist, so I never was exposed to anyone speaking in tongues, nor did I think it was still even an available gift.

The verse in the Bible that talks about how only 3 spiritual gifts will be left (Faith, Hope, and Love) is the basis of our anti-tongue theory. We think they were gone when the Bible was completed (since the whole reason for tongues in the first place was to spread the word in all kinds of languages. ANd now that "that which is perfect has come" we don't need tongues anymore..)

Anyway, aside from denominational doctrine, I have seen many of my friends (who wouldn't just make it up) speak in tongues.

SO..my question is...IS it still around? I am a saved child of God and I would love to know if I am missing out on this gift which so many people I know seem to cherish.

Okay before you start calling me stupid or whatever let me explain my thoughts. As I kid you are taught not to take candy from strangers or talk to strangers for that matter. So why would you go to stranger's houses and take candy from them??
And I know you might say well the younger kids go trick or treating with somebody an adult or older kids. But still think about it...young girls going trick or treating at strangers' houses possibly men...personally this is why I think halloween is so stupid. It goes against what you are taught as a little kid.

In my experience I know a lot of Jewish and Muslim people and they all know a lot about Christianity. Many of the Catholics I know haven't a clue of Jewish or Islam beliefs or traditions. Is this only where I'm from or is the case for the majortiy?

Why is it that the Jews and Muslims appear to know so much about Christianity; even knowing more than most Christians?

Most Christians seem unaware that the OT had been revised and extensively edited many times before the time of Jesus, but this is obvious to the observant scholar of the current text. Written Jewish history confirms this editing was done. Archaeology proves that the Jews were polytheistic through a large part of their history. They were released from the Babylonian captivity about 459 BCE by the Persians, subsequently their religion was greatly influenced by the monotheistic Persian religion of Zoroastrianism. Shortly after this time Ezra and his associates edited the OT deleting most references to the gods and goddesses of the Jews’ previous polytheism.
The Jews were originally a branch of the Canaanites (whom the Greeks called Phoenicians), this is obvious because their Hebrew language is derived from the Canaanite language and has also been proven by archaeology. The Canaanites had a very complex pantheon of gods and goddesses. El was the father of the gods and references to him can still be found in the OT (eg El Shaddai - El the almighty). Asherah was his wife.
One of their numerous children was Yahweh who was El’s cup bearer (wine waiter). Later Asherah became Yahweh’s wife (sacred incest). Yahweh eventually evolved into the deity that Christians call ‘god the father’.
Small household votive idols of the happy couple, Yahweh and Asherah are common archaeological finds on the sites of ancient Jewish houses in Israel. They date up until at least the times of the Davidic monarchies (about 1000 BCE).

So why do Christians ignore and do no honour to god’s father El, his mother-wife Asherah, and all his numerous sacred siblings?

Please do not answer this question with Biblical quotes, as they are irrelevant in this context.

are one then that says to me that god is all three.
if that is true then wouldn't it be true that god did not indeed give his son to be sacrificed but gave himself thereby being no real sacrifice?
wouldn't it also be true that jesus was god in the flesh of a man?
and wouldn't also be true that when jesus was tempted it was no real temptation because god could not be tempted?
