if indeed it was abraham and his son isaac's faith that god was testing, why doesn't god save so many others who have faith. i'm not talking about spiritually being saved. i'm talking physically. why won't god stop bullets, or airplanes crashing into building for that matter? did those people not have faith? i think it's a slap in the face to anyone who's ever died believing god would save them, to say they didn't have faith.

I hope that bible **** is not true, really. People and I, deserve to get punished, you should not be able to get away with things, what if you killed someone, you can just be forgiven? And most people commit sins regularly and don't regret them, and just keep doing them without learning from them. I want to be punished for what I did wrong. It is not just or right for someone to get off so easy. I hope God is not so forgiving and that He really teaches us a lesson and sends us to hell. The way the human race is is so offensive. I don't think anyone, not even Him woudl be happy with what we are doing to ourselves and His world that He created for us.

Is this something Jesus said in the Bible? If so, what does this imply about the laws given?

You are basically saying that if you do A knowing B will happen as a result, you are choosing for B to happen. This has to apply to other areas of life, doesn't it?

If you eat a chocolate bar knowing you will get fat, did you choose to get fat? If you give someone a present, did you choose to get a thank-you card? If you donate to charity, did you choose to feel good about yourself?

I keep willingly repeating a sin. I don't even know why. It's like it's not even me commiting this sin because it is so out of character for me. At this point forgiveness and God seeem so far away. What can I do?

In your personal opinion, which of these statements do think are true for yourself?

And do you think if you accept any of these as true, can they help you in your beliefs/spirituality?

Can they help in the pursuit of your truth, whatever you pursue as a truth religion/science/nature (could be all of these)?

Which one do you think would benefit society if everyone would accept it?

I know less than I think I do.

I know less than I really know.

I think less than I think I do.

I think less than I know I think.

Don't just read over them quickly. Read them and think what each one means for you personally. Anser any or all of the above questions. I'm just curious. Be creative.

At my work, we had to go through an ethics/harassment audit. A coworker had a bumpersticker-type sign on her desk that said 'Jesus Loves You'. The auditor said that the sign was borderline inappropriate and should be taken down. If the sign had said 'Jesus Loves Me' that would have been okay.

What are your thoughts? And if it were not Jesus but another religious figure would you feel the same?

Thanks.

I'm just curious if those who believe that the story of creation is literal, believe that there is symbolism elsewhere in the Bible

hint: Jn 10:7 .

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mat. 16:26).
In 2 Peter, we are told that someday the earth will undergo a fiery renovation. All of nature and everything man has created will be completely destroyed.

“..The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness” (2 Pet. 3:10-11).

What is more important to you?

Y!A... you make connections with people only to find that they are gone- either of their own will or through the report trolls... I'm saddened... is it strange that I form connections with the "community" that Yahoo claims this to be only to be let down and dissappointed by the loss of our loved ones? Or is this normal?

I consider myself agnostic. The statement got brought up that if you are agnostic, you are either atheist or theist. After discussing this with my atheist boyfriend he told me the burden of proof does not lie on the athiest, but the one making the claim, which I do believe.
Now the question is since I believe there is a possibility of things that have not been proven existing, does that make me a theist, even if I do not worship a deity?

the same goes for all the times that your god did something to help his people in the bible....So? Free Will or NOT?

You keep telling us that although we live our lives at pleasure, we'll have to respond to God in the end of times, and that all depends of how we make use of our "free will"....

Did the people of Sodom or Gomorrah have the chance to exercise their free will or not (especially the babies living in those cities)?
