if indeed it was abraham and his son isaac's faith that god was testing, why doesn't god save so many others who have faith. i'm not talking about spiritually being saved. i'm talking physically. why won't god stop bullets, or airplanes crashing into building for that matter? did those people not have faith? i think it's a slap in the face to anyone who's ever died believing god would save them, to say they didn't have faith.

i mean why don't you just go to any military cemetary and tell all the dead soldiers, "you know, you'd be alive right now if you had faith like abraham had faith."

I agree, it is an insult.
Edit: I also find it insulting how so many people are dodging the question by changing the focus to you specifically, instead of the original subject of humanity in general.

Its because we live in a fallen world. Our choice to sin has allowed death into the world. And for a disciple of God, though we may not want to experience death, we believe that death is not the worst thing that can happen to us. And in fact, physical dying will take us to a far better place. We live in a fallen world, and death delivers our souls to a far better one if we follow God.
We may ask God to "save us" in a life and death situation - but I would argue that a true believer would never be angry at God if He chose not to save us. Because in the end, we've already been saved for eternity. Life is short...eternity is forever.
As for Abraham - and this is a bit of an aside - while it was a test of faith, the story with Isaac means SO much more than that. Its a foreshadowing of Christ's death and one of the earliest prophecies in the Bible. Isaac was a Christ-figure, and the father, Abraham, represented THE FATHER, who would sacrifice his son.

Because you aren't Isaac. Duh!!
And, yes, I agree, it would be a slap in the face to say they did not have faith.
God took them because they did have faith.
That is what most people don't get.
That is not to say that if you have faith that God is going to take you. Or that if you don't have faith that you get to stay forever, until you get faith.
God is going to take us all, one way or another. So why concern yourself with the whys and the whens and the such.
If you want protection, buy life insurance. It'll come in handy sooner or later.
P.S. If God thought he should stop bullets, he wouldn't have given man the idea to make them. Why do people always blame God for all that goes wrong according to their plans and ideas?
Who died and made mankind God.

God lets man deal with the problems of this world. God will provide guidance and spiritual strength, to those who deserve it, through their hard work and spiritual training. But, the world has a lot of serious problem in this world, not being properly address by man, that God expects us to handle responsibly. The world is a tough and challenging place, that can exercise the human spirit extrremely, and make it very very strong with God's help and guidance. Meditate, do mind-body exercises, eat healthy, and don't over indulge. This will make you both stronger spiritually and more aware of the protective spiritual realm that also exists.

You need only to go to the story of Issac's sons to get the answer to your question.
Now, understand, I have not said you will like the answer, but the answer is there.
Jacob and Esau are the twin sons of Issac and Rebeccah.
THey fought with one another even in the womb, so much so, that Rebeccah asked God what was going on inside her.
God told her that two nations were struggling in her belly, and that the older would serve the younger.
Now, both Jacob and Esau were brats, both against each other and trying to get the better of each other.
God chose Jacob from the womb, not because he was good, bad or any other reason, he simply chose him because he chose him.
God also tells us that it rains on the just and the unjust. Good and bad things happen to the saved and unsaved.
God allows this so that we continue on in faith, not in service so that nothing bad will happen to us.
We must chose God because it is the truth, not because bad stuff will stop happening to us and ours if we do. Fact is, that good and bad stuff will continue to happen to all humans, regardless if they believe in God or not.
The simple anser to your question is "because he decides, not us"

The fact is He does. How many of us have gotten out of situations that we've had no business surviving? I know I have. Does that mean I'll always be so protected? No. One day I will die just like everyone else....but hopefully not before I've accomplished the mission God sent me to do.

He will. Heaven is the perfect place. If we would be totally free to choose what is right and what is wrong, we would not be killing each other. Free will opens the door to evil.
