Speaking as an Orthodox convert from a high Anglican background I feel qualified....
the Orthodox church uses painted Icons
leavened bread in communion which is placed in the chalice with the wine e lack any doctrine like purgatory nor do we have arguments about Limbo. All of our Bishops are equal so the difference between a Patriarch is he chairs the meeting of the local synod. We celebrate all saints day after Pentecost and have a tradition of using old forms of the local language for Liturgy. We also ordain married men to the priesthood.
the Roman Catholics have purgatory and the debates on Limbo
they give the Pope a doctrine of infallibility -see the excathadra statement use status unleavened bread in comunion

we also differ in how we do confessions we Orthodox not only don't have the box but also the penance if one is given is about how to fix the mess we make...

B.C., peace and grace be with you.

From an Oriental Orthodox perspective, the entire one holy catholic (ie universal) and Apostolic Church uses icons. Indeed, one of the ways of spotting heretics is that they don't have any icons.

There are numerous differences between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic branches of The Church but our bishops are working to resolve matters. How this will occur God only knows. Pray the schisms may be healed please.

It is probably correct to say that the Orthodox use icons more than Roman Catholics.

Chris, please consider whether you can trace a true unchanging Christian Faith through any of those men you mentioned back to the Apostles. Our Faith was delivered by Christ our God to His Holy Apostles and never changes.

Pray for me please.

Orthodox and Catholics separated from one another in 1054. There are very few theological differences. The main difference is that the Orthodox Churches (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11329a.htm) use the Byzantine Rite (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/04312d.htm) and the Catholic Church use the Roman or Latin Rite.

Pope John Paul II said of the Orthodox Churches in Orientale Lumen, "A particularly close link already binds us. We have almost everything in common." (see http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/apost_letters/documents/hf_jp-ii_apl_02051995_orientale-lumen_en.html )

The Orthodox Churches use icons more than the Catholic Churches.

With love in Christ.

Booth use icons, Catholics tend to use statues, and western form of art. The main difference is the belief on original sin, the belief in the Pope as Supreme Pontiff, the doctrine of Purgatory (Orthodox believe in praying for the dead, but not in Purgatory). Filioque clause was a huge thing in the separation of the Church, it had to due with adding, and the Holy Spirit into the Nicene Creed. Those are the main differences. Here's a star.

The Western (Roman) Catholics added the "filioque clause" to the Nicene Creed. Caused a big problem called the "Great Schism"...still not "repaired"...

They both use icons. Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

Bible teachers that said the Vatican and the catholic cult are an antichrist: John Bunyan, John Huss, John Wycliffe, John Calvin, William Tyndale, John Knox, Thomas Bacon, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Samuel Cooper, John Cotton, and Jonathan Edwards.

We are definitely more alike than we are different, and I look forward to the day when relations have been repaired with my brothers and sisters.
