Partly. God gave some basic rules and how to worship him. That is all he was concerned.

The rest came from people - priests or rulers usually by "interpreting" what God had to say.

-- Eternal is misunderstood by the way...

It is until the end of the age. Or during ancient times. For awhile. A long period.

If not - it makes God a liar for all of his broken promises in the Old Testament.

Hebrew word for eternity is owlam or olam. I actually blogged about in my 360 thing.

Also keep in mind that the Hebrew language was very concrete in that their words were not based on abstract ideas. They words were based on very concrete and real things.

Eternity is an abstract term that they would have no idea what that was. They believed in 'ages' where an age has a start and end.

The basic laws...yes. Among those laws is the permission for the leaders of each generation to enact regulations to protect those laws, called 'fences'. For example, it is forbidden to cook dairy and meat together (cooking a kid in its mothers milk). The flesh of birds (chickens, doves, turkeys, etc) are technically not 'meat' because birds do not produce milk...however, as bird flesh is generally considered 'meaty' by people, a fence was enacted to apply the rule of not cooking meat and milk together to bird flesh...so that one, using the terminology of 'meat' would not come to transgress the biblical prohibition.

Therefore, the full answer is yes and no....the Laws were God-given, but some of the practical applications were man-made with the explicit permission of God.

Who really knows, some one could have had a vision which may have come from some higher being. And did the Prophet who handed them down get the interpretation right or was he a raving lunatic.

YES......and no-man could or would abide in them..........
Thats why a new covenant was established by God to man...Himself...in Flesh..Jesus Christ to establish a new testament..........And HE fullfilled all of the Law of God........for HE Alone...was the only one worthy to do so........." And when He could swear by greater , He sore to HIMSELF......."
And He came to earth took on flesh and dwelt among us..gave His life a ransom for many..then arose the third day victorous..........and ascended back to heaven making intercessions for us.........and preparing a place that where He is we maybe also !!!!!!!!And will come again and recieve us unto HIMSELF !!!!!!!!!!!

uhh... yes? He gave them to moses, he also came down to prove there is a god. In fact, the people were so terrified of god that they would rather hear it from moses and let him serve as a mediator than be in the presence of the Lord. Read it for yourself.

God "inspired" fits better. Yet, all spiritual inspiration intended for humans is filtered through human beings and that is where the confusion enters.

If they are, then they're supposed to be eternal... I'll let you decide what that implies about Christianity.

Edit:
Don & jesussaves don't get it.
