Absolutely not! Freedom of religion is sacred.

There is no reason to ban the Quran. The Quran itself is a religious volumne and has much in common with the tones of the old and new testament. The problem is with certain clerics who focus and elaborate on violent portions of the text, which also happens with some Christian groups. The bad actions of fringe groups should not slander the text itself. If that were true, then after the Oklahoma City Bombing we would have burned Bibles, wouldn't we? Those militia folks who planned it and carried it out were Christians and hate-mongers. There are directives to violence in the Bible as well, but interpretations by ministers typically do not celebrate those any more than ministers of the Muslim faith. The problem is not the Book.

netherlands, weswtern country, well developed however you want to put it. the majority of its population is christian. christianity is one of, if not the most hypocritical and (i use this word VERY loosely because it can be deemed offensive to alot of people and should i offend anyone by saying this i appologize in advance but this is personally my view) evil religions there is in todays society. they are the cause of more wars than any other religion, they are sexist (in the bible it says in a passage 'man shall have the last word'. this is only one example, there are many many others), they stole all of their beliefs from pagans and punished them while doing it. jesus was a character in fables, the bible was a collection of stories which all had meanings, woman was the highest being, not men, all females where because they are the givers of life. christianity has warped and twisted it to their own ends and has caused more problems than any other religion. most christians are blind to this and if they knew everything would probably look at the religion in a different way. but the christians who do know dont believe this are blinded by their beliefs, as everybody dedicated to a faith should be, but the wool has been well and truly pulled over their eyes and they arent willing to move it.

in this i am not having a stab at christians i am trying to say that before they go around banning other peoples religions for being 'wrong' or 'bad' they should look at their own and do something about that

No. Much as I may disagree with what it says, no book should be banned, especially a religious text. Next thing the Quran banners would do is start coming after the Bibles.

Banning the Quran is a bad thing.

The history of banning substances or literature only fuels more extremists. It would probably increase it's popularity. Once something is illegal, more people tend to want it. Or think the "bad" people don't want it legal so the "good" people must read it.

In america, no, don't ban it. America is freedom of speech and religon. No matter how crazy it is. Not saying Quran is crazy.

i don't think banning the quran is a good thing because whether you ban it or not it will not affect any crime rate. and comparing the quran to mein kampf is out of context b/c the quran is a holy book.

That's a good question considering the destruction and murder this book has inspired but banning it isn't the answer.

Our universities should teach the value of science and objectivity and do away with moral relativism and nihilism.

Bad, very bad. The Quran is a book that is sacred to many, and it promotes peace, love, forgiveness and tolerance. It is not the Quran that is causing the militant violence, it is those who misinterpret the teachings of Allah and Mohammed who are causing violence in the world.
