My friend and I were discussing about Sufism and how blaming other must be avoided. While my friend was driving, he broke a Stop sign. Instead of taking responsibility, he started complaining how it was awkward place to have a Stop sign which made me think he blamed the placement of Stop sign rather then taking the ownership that we were taking while driving that actually did it for us.
So I turned to him and said “Are you thinking, what I am thinking?” and he looks at me with a grin and says “Thank God, no Cops”

I freakin gave up.

I have seen many quesions and comments on this site refering to homosexual marriage, etc. Now, I have a question: how many of you believe it to be wrong to date or even marry someone of a different race than you?? Why or why not?? I am very curious as to others views on this....from a religious standpoint.....

I want to know if you look down on people that like to get high. Do you think it is a "loserish" thing to do? OR is not that bad. I have been smoking for 2 years and I love it. I am nervous most of the time and it takes the edge off. I know that I could do other things to take the "edge" off but weed really makes me feel better. And yes I smoke anywhere between 2 and 4 blunts a day. I have a full time job and pay my rent and bills.

Nothing serious from me today! I'm ready to have some fun with this question. It's a beautiful sunny day and I'm in a very good mood.

My Answer: I'm a tough cookie disguised as a cream puff. The gray hair and smile fool a lot of people.

I'm writing about the history of the church and it's effect on society.

I'm looking for examples of where the church has held back science.

Examples I have include:
In 415 AD the Alexandria Library was burned to the ground by catholic monks.

During the black plague, religious leaders discouraged experimental scientific investigation.

In 1215 Pope Innocent III declared that all surgical procedures were prohibited by Church law.

Please share any more examples that you know of. Thanks!

If people are going to use Bible prophesy as proof that their religion is the true one, then
1. How is it that you need a sign (magical prophesy) in order to believe.

and

2. Why do you trust Bible prophesies that are so very vague and unconvincing?

We are starting to see Christ taken out of things even the word Christian! I see here repeatedly how we are called and at times Christians call ourselves x-tians. How about how Christmas is called x-mas. Coincidence? Your thoughts Christians and others if you wish.

I asked a question about military chaplains and most people seemed to think they were okay, even necessary. While I have nothing against the chaplain system, it seems to be a violation of the separation of church and state, something people usually really get worked up about. So is that okay in certain circumstances, such as this?

Or is this not a violation?

Just because we have the *right* to say something, does that mean we always *should*? Where does the boundary come in between using our right and abusing it?

This question is inspired by another which was asked about the Hate Crimes Act -- but I don't want to argue about that. But for example, although Christians have the right to express the Biblically supported belief that homosexuality is a sin, is it necessary or "moral" to invade someone else's turf for the day -- public space that is being used for a gay pride event, maybe -- and scream it at the top of your lungs?

Fellow Christians, how would you feel if your church was having a picnic or event, and another group of people showed up, waving signs about how Christians are wrong and going to hell? Even though they have the *right* to do so?

Just like the Fred Phelps crew -- they have the *right* to "Thank God For Dead Soldiers", but should they really? Especially at military funerals?

Where do you draw the line?

... would he...sit down with them and preach about how wrong this is or would he congratulate them and give them his blessing?

I know I know....this is just a thought I'm not saying it would actually happend, my point is, from what we learn in the Bible about Jesus, wouldn't he see the love between 2 people as a good thing gay or not? I don't believe in God but I believe Jesus was a good man.

Gotto go feed baby so I'll just leave it at that.

Happy halloween all

There will be a new children's movie outin December called 'The Golden Compass'. The movie hasbeen described as 'atheism for kids'and is based on the first book of atrilogy entitled 'His Dark Materials' that was written byPhillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist whodespises C. S. Lewis and the 'Chronicles of Narnia'. His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis'symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.

I'm American, but for some reason, my entire life I've felt foreign, like I don't belong here. I look on TV and the majority of those people don't look like me. When I do see people who look like me, they are often portrayed in a negative light. I decided to ask this question, because I'm currently serving in Iraq and I feel the same way over here. I feel alone. There are only a handful of black people here on base, and you begin to feel like an immigrant. Now, I'm not one of those people who can't function around caucasians, however it would be nice to experience the same comfort they seem to experience when 95% of the people they work/live with and see on tv look like them. It shouldn't matter what race people are...says the man who lives in the exclusive white neighborhood and goes to the prodominantly white high school or university? It's human nature to feel more comfortable around people of your own race. Personally, I would prefer it to be evenly populated w/ various races.
