We are starting to see Christ taken out of things even the word Christian! I see here repeatedly how we are called and at times Christians call ourselves x-tians. How about how Christmas is called x-mas. Coincidence? Your thoughts Christians and others if you wish.

God is slowly being taken out of everything. You are right about the X. This country cannot continue to be blessed when America is slapping GOD in the face!!

Actually, if you do your research, the letter "X" is a legitimate abbreviation for the name Christ. Even the church uses it.

Why don't people research ANYTHING before making such nonsense statements? And why do so many Christians need to learn information about their own religious beliefs from atheists?

"The use of "X," derived from Chi, the Greek alphabet initial, as an abbreviation for Christ (most commonly in the abbreviation "Xmas") is often misinterpreted as a modern secularization of the term. Thus understood, the centuries-old English word Xmas, is actually a shortened form of CHmas, which is, itself, a shortened form for Christmas. In fact, the use of "X" to represent the full word goes back to the earliest days of Greek Christianity." (Wikipedia)

It took me about 30 seconds to find this information.

Christmas is a man-made holiday. Jesus wasn't born, then all of a sudden, every December 25, we celebrate Christmas, as you are implying. Reading into things that are not there isn't exactly Christian, is it?

I can't stand it when people say "x-mas" and I would never refer to myself as a x-tian.....how stupid!!! I am a Christian and I will always say Merry Christmas!

Sad that you don't know the origin of replacing Christ with an "X". Sad indeed. Read up before posting.

Xians and Xmas were brought into being as shorthand by the catholic church--X is the greek letter "Christos"--want to whine about making your own problems?

I think so long as we don't take Christ out of our hearts, it dosen't matter that we shorten or abbreviate words. It only matters what you hold holy in your heart and soul!

"X" is another symbol of the cross. St Andrew was crucified on such a thing.
