Okay so I am wondering... Many people do not believe the Loch Ness monster is real. I am still undecided as I do belive in many of the strange events that occur in this world. So I want to know, if it isn't the "Nessie" than what exactly is the creature that is in the Loch Ness that has been caught on film so many times...

I had asked another question about Christianity and Politics. I explained how religion and politics were not separate to first century Christians; I meant for this observation to have strong implications for the reader and my question. However, I feel many misunderstood what I was asking, so let me rephrase.

Many Christians feel the country will be better off ran by a Christian. However, it is hard to tell who is genuine, and religious beliefs do not necessarily ensure leadership and good decision-making. The question then is: should we revert (as many have) to the view that God's Kingdom needs to be manifest on this Earth and continue to vote for Christian presidents, feeling they are the best representatives of the country? Or should we except the country is based on the constitution and not the Bible and church and state are separate and vote for leaders completely regardless of their religious beliefs but because of their policies?

What would the first century Christians think?

Why does the pope beleive in evolution, should bhe not be trying to defned the creation of the world as given to him in the bible?

what do catholics think about this,

the bible says:

"But He answered and said, "It is written, "MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" Matt 4:4

so therefore if God told us how he made the world, and darwin tells us another which point of view should the pope try to defend?

The bible says six days, darwin says millions

the question isn't about evos vs creo's

it's about wbhy the most revered religeous person on the planet is disregardiong God as his creator and instead saying it was due to the primordial swamp

I mean, if Genesis has no meaning, why support the rest of the bible?

Why does the catholic church have disregard Genesis and The book of Revelations in particular

i mean is there anything in these books that we or they should be worried about?

I was making a good atheist lunch you know, minding my own business, just getting ready to put some mustard on my bologna sandwich, when goodness gracious, I think I spotted Jesus on my plate. Now, maybe it is just an optical illusion or the way the light was coming in the kitchen window, but tell me, is it a miracle?, or should I just go ahead an eat my sandwich?

Many Protestants argue that Christians are saved by faith alone, that faith is always accompanied by good works, and if anyone does not do good works, he is not saved because he has no faith.

James, however, gives an example of faith without works:

2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

James concludes: "You see that a person is justified by what he does and NOT BY FAITH ALONE."

Does a Christian witih faith always do good works, so that it is impossible to have faith without works? If not, can you provide other examples of faith without works?

Serious ANSWERS only please. Please no insults because I have asked the question.

I know that some Christians want the 10c's posted in courthouses, but that is from the OT, so obviously they haven't discarded the 10c's.

But what about the OT commands to kill witches, or followers of "false Gods", what about the OT commandments about mixed fibers or not touching the skin of a dead pig, why aren't they being followed ?

How do you know which OT laws to discard, and which one to keep ?

Biblical support would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

If you question the beliefs of the Jehovah's Witnesses does that make you an apostate? What about Russell? He questioned the original belief that the Jehovah's Witnesses had about the Trinity, did that make him an apostate? Also, the book, Jehovah's Witnesses, proclaimers of gods kingdom quotes Matt 7:15 regarding being on the watch for false prophets. It states theat they will come from among you yourselves and that they would do so QUIETLY and from within the congregation in a secret or camouflaged way.
What about studying the bible, beliefs and addressing questions as to the accuracy of the teachings? I don't think that would be considered apostasy as Russell was able to question the issue of the trinity without being considered an apostate. So then, if questioning a belief out in the open how could this be considered apostasy?

It seems the far right fundies are complaining about the new Nicole Kidman movie, "The Golden Compass". The movie is based on a book trilogy that has been accused of being overtly anti-religion and who's author is a outspoken supporter of Athiesm.
The thing is, the fundies are complaining that New Line Cinema TOOK OUT the parts dealing with religion and atheism all together..watering down the fantasy story and thus PROMOTING more people to read the atheism laced book.

Does this make ANY sense to a normal person?

We were wondering if we could find a group of ametuer singers in our city. Does anybody know how to go about it or what words to use (on the web) to find singalong groups? I found a bar but that's really not quite what we're looking for. Also found lots of song lyrics on the web (Old Kentucky home, Beautiful Dreamer, Mockin' Bird Hill, ETC) Now we need some people to sing them with. Any ideas?

A few weeks ago, probably about 6 to be exact, I and a friend of mine took a trip to Martha's Vineyard, and one night when we were there, I met this certain celebrity ( I actually took the trip there to see if I could meet him because I heard that he would be there that weekend).
We danced and I had gotten drunk and so did he. He took me back to the Hotel he was staying in and I'm sure we ended up having sex though I can't remember it very well. Anyway, the next morning, when I woke up, he had a cab waiting for me outside to take me back to the place where I was staying & a note. I just discovered that I am pregnant and I don't know what to do because I know I'll never see him again & he's probably forgotten about me. But I know it's not my boyfriend's baby because we had split up for a bit just before this happened and they are the only two guys I've been with. We have since gotten back together and are engaged. I am a Christian and opposed to abortion, and just turned 20.
