We were wondering if we could find a group of ametuer singers in our city. Does anybody know how to go about it or what words to use (on the web) to find singalong groups? I found a bar but that's really not quite what we're looking for. Also found lots of song lyrics on the web (Old Kentucky home, Beautiful Dreamer, Mockin' Bird Hill, ETC) Now we need some people to sing them with. Any ideas?

Miz & Suzie, I hadn't thought of that. We could put an ad in the pennysaver looking for other people who like to sing and do it for shut-ins..

Did you do a Google search for Barber Shop Quartet in your area? Another idea would be the amateur theater groups. Many of the performers can sing as well as act. A group of women in my community call themselves the Sweet Adelines and they sing for many gatherings around the holidays. They sing those beautiful old songs and are very popular. Why don't you and your friends pick out a name and start practicing then schedule some gigs.

I love to sing all the old songs. I wish we could start one also. I know all the words to the songs you mentioned. Barbershop is more harmony than just singing along and they don;t play music. If you put an ad in a local paper, you may find people. Have fun.

this question is NASTY, I live in Australia and those 'modern' songs are some of my favourites .. if you pay my fare I'll be only to pleased to join you and I could introduce you to some 'old' songs like, Believe me if all those endearing young charms, Bicycle built for two, When you were sweet sixteen, Bewitched, bothered and bewildered (oops that's too modern) Lavenders Blue etc., but then you're probably too young to know these, so don't bother with the fare .. I thought this area was for seniors, can't you youngsters go to your own sites (lol)

I think that is a great Idea to have a group, and go to old folks homes, and sing their favourite songs to them. I wish you all the best.
