Everybody knows how poorly women are treated in Islam, right? But is there anyway in which we can accept the way muslims think of women?

And if you aren't sure that muslim women (not all of them) are treated badly, then take a look at this.

They keep saying they are well treated, but their testimony is worth half that of a man in court, and you get stuck in prison if you are raped in Pakistan. You can't drive a car in Saudi, or marry the person of your choice in some places. Yes, I'm sure all the victims of honour killings felt very respected.

I've also had some unpleasant personal experiences with Muslim guys, and they treat non-Muslim girls like disposable sex toys.

I've only met one that was 'proper', who refused a stripper, and berated his friends for arranging it. Mostly, their attitudes are crap and not fit for an enlightened society.

Its people who are culturally backwards who treat women badly. In Islam a woman is elevated from being seen as a object to a person, a real person.

Women have the...

Right to inherit, right to be provided for in terms of expenses and living arrangements, from husband. Right to keep any money she worked for, she is not obligated to pay for anything from this money. She is also not obligated to cook. No one can take anything that she owns, the right to have a marriage gift from her husband. Most of them as the same the male of the species.

Any kind of proganda won't have any effect on anyone, nice try envanglist!

As salaamu 'alaikym, my very misinformed friend.

Insha'Allah, if you had ever read the Holy Qur'an (even in an English translation), read about the life of the Prophet Muhammad (sallahu 'alaihi wasallaam) or studied the Sunnah al Hadiths, you would not be making such a foolish statement as the one that you posted here.

Your statement could be compared to one which might ask, "Considering how Christianity developed and has always down graded women and their role in the church to a second class position at best and how women have been treated in most Christian countries for well over 2,000 years, is there any way in which we could find the same acceptable?"

You are confusing what you have seen and has been presented by the distorted media of this nation, espeically when the same is in regards to those persons who have been officialy labeled by your government and the current adminsitration as "enemies of the state", as the truth and as fact when, in reality, it is not.

Insha'Allah, please remember and consider that there are over 1 billion Muslims in the world as I write and only a handful of such reports are being presented despite the fact that your media is actively searching for the same. How many reports of the mistreatment of women by supposed "Christian" men and in supposed "Christain" countries do you think could be reproted just from the United States alone if the media suddenly chose to look for and report the same?

Insha'Allah, before you continue to demonstrate your ignorance, as well as promote your personal brand of hate, go to such web sites as:

http://www.sultan.org
http://www.islamicity.com
http://www.islamreligion.com

as well as many, many others and actually learn about Islam and what is taught by this religion. Please, read the Holy Qur'an and learn about the life and lived example of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and, most importantly go to the mosque nearest you and actually meet and speak with Muslims. Your view will change and, hopefully, some sense of peace will come upon you, insha'Allah.

Ma'a salaam

Hmm, well, most of the Islamic practices are actually Mosaic [by Moses].

However, a lot of them are also regional to Arabia.

The woman is only entitled to half that of a man, according to them and a woman inherits only one third, while the brother inherits two thirds.

Do you think that's fair?

The woman must wear the habit of modesty, while the man may blame her for provoking him with her looks! In fact, according to Islamic Law, the woman who is raped must bring four Muslim men as witness if she's to have any case at all!

Where's the sense in this, please?

There are tons of others that are not even close to our being prepared to hear abut them, leave alone tolerate!

Sorry, no way we can accept their barbaric ways here.

While the Muslim ladies like Sen B, who is a Scot who married a Pakistani and converted to Islam, and the other lady who live in England may see a different aspect of the Muslims as visitors from abroad, they don't see the way the ladies are really treated there, unfortunately.

I've been to the Middle East, East and Far East many a time and can assure you that the first hand stories that I've heard from ladies there aren't in any way entertaining.

Ask any Irani, Iraqi, Lebanese Chechnayan or Afghan lady what her life is like and I assure you you won't find it amusing.

Quite recently, the parents of young Muslim girl killed her for her "Sin" of concieving from her being used by her brother, in Iran and similar incidents occured in Afghanistan, Iraq and other Muslim Countires. Quite recently, a woman was stoned to death for being declared an adultress, in Iran. Many Phillipinas in Saudi couldn't file their complaints of their being raped by local Arabs and Pakistani Muslims, because they didn't have four Muslim men who would bear witness to their rape!?

Iran recently hung two young men for being gay!

Do you want that kind of thing happening here?

And, whom do they have for a role model?

Mohammad?

A man who married a woman in her 50's [Khadijah bint Khuwaylid] when he was 20?

A man who lusted for his own daughter in law - Zainab bint Jash, and had his adoptive son divorce her so that he could have her?

A man who "played" with Aisha bint Abu Bak'r when she was 6 and married her when she was 9 and he was in his late 50's?

Not to mention the manyother wives he'd had!?

And he's the guy that said that he saw that Hell was full of women!?

Cheers!

My question to you is....just how many Muslim women do YOU know are treated like that???

All the females that I know are treated with the love and care by their partners...as for a Muslim woman's right...they didn't ask for help from Emily Pankhurst and the Suffrogettes.

None that I can think of.

Edit:
Second thought, if the individual woman wants to be treated that way. But there is no way that it should be legally enforced or socially applied to all women.

Yes, as a final thought on the way to the gallows, for those who believe it. A sort of anecdotal final proof of utter craziness which would confirm, yeup, we's doin' the right thing here.
