A king wanted to demonstrate his great majesty and power. He came up with a plan. All of the future citizens of his kingdom (while they were still in the womb) would be presented to him. The pregnant mothers would walk into his thrown room and he would assign her future baby a color: either red or blue. Only a small few received blue. The rest received red. The king ordained that, one day, whenever he pleased, he would throw the individuals marked with the color red into a burning fire. Only the people with a blue mark would be spared and would be left to live a long life. ALL of the people marked with red would be thrown into the fire to burn regardless of their quality of life, morality or contributions to the kingdom. And it was so. He tossed more than 1/2 the kingdom into the fire and listened to them burn. He did this to demonstrate his great power.

Would you consider him to be a good king or a egotistical villan?

One of the churches in my town (pop.12,000) has invited 15 local retail businesses to participate in a hoilday event. My New Age shop, which has been open in town for 10 years, has not been invited. when I questioned the organizer, I was told I should "have my own, maybe in the Spring." Since it's a church, they get all kinds of free publicity, which is extended to the businesses. This began last year & we were excluded, then too.

The idea is, you stop at one of the selected businesses, get a card, visit all the others who stamp the card, & win prizes.

I'm not sure who or how many other businesses were excluded.

So, my question is:

Is it discrimination?
Is it fair? It seems to go over the line. Should a church be allowed to help some shops & not others?
Is it christian?

Hi There!
We are having a party this Saturday. And we will be having people coming in and out of the house. We also have a 9 1/2 month old that is crawling and picks up everything and puts it into his mouth. We have oak trees everywere and the acorns and leaves come in all the time. And we also have a driveway with little rocks that track in! Is there a nice way without offending anybody to have them take off their shoes when they come in???
Thanks for the help!
Jennifer

I heard it suggested from a male friend that often times he is treated differently because her is a short man. I am a tall woman and so I found this to be interesting. He said in the wokplace, going out and even with dating, he feels as though he is treated unequally.

You think he is paranoid?

I have recently converted to Islam, and I am not sure how I can tell my family. They are very religious, and would probably try to take me to church and revert my back Christianity. How should I tell them? What recations should I expect, and what should I do if they do not accept me? I have a close band with my family, and I do not want to loose that. What should I do?

I asked a question a minute ago and one of the responders said "What many people fail to understand is what "traditions" are. These are not man made traditions. This is called "sacred traditions". One must remember not everything that Jesus spoke or taught was written down, but was passed on word of mouth to the Apostles and by the Apostles. These sacred traditions are still the teachings of Christ."

They say these traditions come from Jesus. That they can all be traced back to Him. What about the assumption of Mary? Jesus was no longer on Earth when she died. How did He teach this then? Doesn't it mean that this tradition could not possibly be based upon Jesus' teachings?

I'd like to accept God but come on there is like no proof. That'd be like me beliving in the purple french fry monster cause someone wrote a book on it and a ton of other people belive in it. I mean I know there was a Jesus and like I guess he died for our sins I don't know though. I was not there at the time to tell so I can't be sure. So if he was real think he'd send me to Hell cause I just don't know? I'd like to belive but I just can't cause theres no proof and it's kinda drivin me nutts. I really don't see how that is very fair sending someone to Hell because some dude died 2k years ago. Why can't I just live my life and not have to worry bout this? I would really like to belive but just can't. So what im asking is if he is real think he'd let me in?

...whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit." Once we tune ourselves to this reality, Lewis believes, we open ourselves to imaginatively transform our lives in such a way that evil diminishes and good prevails. His contemporary, Dietrich Bonhoeffer said, "The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world it leaves to its children."
