Hire a genealogist to research your family tree. You may want to take a few of the first steps yourself with an internet-based search. You may want to start with familysearch.org. It is a free search with some good resources. Another good website is ancestry.com.

Don't trust trying to research a family by just the family name. You many not be descended from the people listed on the family name website.

Check your mother's birth certificate.
That's how I found out I am the daughter of a baroness.
My mother's birth certificate lists her as the daughter of Baroness Blah-Blah-Blah-Blah of Bla-Bla Germany. She was the eldest daughter so she got the jewelry. She gave me a copy of the birth certificate and a few pieces of my grandmother's jewelry. Impressive, yes, but where can you wear stuff like that?
Also, most people with royalty in the family have strange sensitivities passed down in the family. Color blindness. Night blindness. All kinds of sensitivities.

Where do you live? If you live in the states the chances are pretty slim. The only thing you can try is to research your family name.

try www.ancestory.com. Ask your relatives for books on your lineage. Some of my relatives have researched our family trees and wrote books about it.
