I just heard about the suicide attack today in Pakistan when the prime minister was having some sort of celebration. What I don't get about it is that why did they bomb a muslim country, or maybe its another reason? Do muslimss (SOME!) really believe that someone should phyisically harm someone for islam...I thought the religion was peaceful..Christanity seems more peaceful to me..thou shalt not kill....

I'm about to buy a new Bible for studying and in-depth work. Which version do you feel is best, and why? Thanks in advance, God bless.

I left my religion a few months ago because I felt like the religion itself was getting in the way of my spiritual growth. I want to see if I can gain a better spiritual knowledge of God without the biased, conforming attitudes of religion.
I wanted to buy a bible to help me learn about God and get closer to Him, but because there are so many different versions--as well as religions--I wasn't sure which to buy.
So I bought the New Jerusalem Bible. It says it's supposed to be the most thoroughly translated, and unbiased, version around.
My question is, is this bible recommendable for someone who wants to read and study the scriptures as one way to get closer to God, gain spiritual knowledge, and find inner peace?

I read in a report the other day, the American congress has a approval rating lower than that of the president. It stated that the president has an approval rating of over 20%. While this is not great, it is better than the congressional approval rating which was listed at 11%. 11%!!! Are these not the people who are supposed to act as a one of the checks and balances against the executive branch? If we don't approve of them, how can we expect them to keep the president in line? Now, I am not saying that this survey is 100% accurate, because no survey is, but it does shed some light on how the American people feel regarding our congress men and women. If they are so corrupt and out of favor with the American public, why are we not pushing for congressional term limits? This would end alot of the bickering and corruption in our government, because they could no longer use their positions as a platform for political power. How could one go about starting a movement to push this?

I'm sure we all have our favorite Christmas special of all time or at least our top five. Personally, I love the Charlie Brown Christmas and the claymation Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer special. But one that I haven't seen in years and want to see again so bad, is the California Raisins Christmas. That was so awesome and it just brings back a lot of memories. The Networks should start showing it again.

I saw a debate on another website about how Americans love their dogs too much, and the question was presented, "Would you rather have your dog die or a complete stranger?" It was agreed that the value of a human's life is more than a dog's.

Why do humans think this way? If the dog was someone in our family and we had to choose between them and a complete stranger, we would choose someone in our family instead. I wouldn't choose a complete stranger over my dog. A dog is part of the family unit and some stranger is not. There are BILLIONS of humans on the Earth. I would spare one of those billion for a part of my family.

I bring this to religion because in most religions, humans are thought to be the ultimate rulers and are superior to animals. What do you think, if you had to choose who would die, a complete stranger, or a family dog/pet, which would you choose?

They say things like "I have to put up with some gay guy re-drawing the Last Supper!"

Does anyone else get the joke or should we just let them have their moment of hypocrisy?

Not what you have heard, not rumors, nothing that isn't true. Or I would be happy to correct you if you are wrong! I am mostly just curious to what people actually know about the LDS church

And, please, nothing rude... please

My mom used to play the same CD every year when I was younger. Sadly, the CD was lost over time, but now that I'm older, I really want to figure out what the name of it was so I can go out and try to find it for this Christmas for nostalgic purposes:)...

All I remember is that it is a CD with a bunch of different artists, but Amy Grant sang Hark the Herald Angels sing on it, and I believe the first track was The First Noel. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why are people so programmed to ask this, but don't actually stop to talk with the person.
People say it in passing.

so i had this dream awhile back but its just now concerning me. i was in so much pain emotionally and begged God to take me up and He said is that what you really want and i said yes and so he starts to take me up (kind of like elijah in the bible) and i go wait no i want to go back and he lets me go back says see i'm not done yet. you are going to do amazing things and i have a plan for you that isn't fulfilled yet so he had me stay on earth. however most of my life ive been fearful ill die young and my lifeline is long (like 70 some years; not that i really believe in that stuf) but i guess im just looking for an interpertation. sorry if you feel like i have wasted your time reading this :/

I am trying to understand God's personality. What makes him happy and mad. I can't understand praying. I think only a selfish tyrant would want you to pray to him. Just follow the commandments and make it like a philosophy. It seems to make more sense that way.
