They say things like "I have to put up with some gay guy re-drawing the Last Supper!"
Does anyone else get the joke or should we just let them have their moment of hypocrisy?

ok - well 10 minutes later and no one has nailed it...
Who painted the Last Supper in the first place?
It wasn't drawn in the Bible that way...

Okay peoples stupidity is scary sometimes. The last supper was painted by Leonardo da Vinci a man that is believed to have been gay. So when you get people who say they do not some gay guy re-drawing the last supper I suppose they must be unhappy with the original artist as well. Oh well i guess we can laugh about it....
Okay maybe it was taken a little to far, I mean they probably knew it was going to offend people and they did it anyway. They should have stayed away from an idea like that to be an advertisement for the festival it brings to much negative attention to it.

Christianity and hypocrisy are married to each other, which is amusingly ironic since they never divorced hypocrisy, ignorance and intolerance and misconceptions of reality. Would Jesus really have made everyone sit on the same side of the table? The "revered" Last Supper is an imaginatively conceived fantasy created by a gay man (Da Vinci) and so is this Buffet.

Well, even if Leonardo da Vinci (were gay) & painted "The Last Supper", I still find it offensive & deplorable to make a mockery of such a serious occasion as was the last supper.
I don't go to church or anything- I have church at home, but I feel it's good to respect other's beliefs, especially when it comes to Jesus Christ!
I never disrespect gays, on the contrary- I feel that even though Jesus wouldn't condone homosexual behaviour, he would be compassionate the way he was towards Mary Magdelene- despite her being a prostitute.
edit: for the poster below me- I'm Latin & would still find it offensive, if they put Jesus & his apostles as such or as cholos, for example- even in jest. This subject's just too serious for me to joke about.

I've seen that poster - why on earth is it "degrading"?
It's only an "insult" if you assume that implying homosexuality (even in an obviously ironic and silly way) is inherently degrading. The person who created the ad obviously doesn't consider this to be so.
It's hardly unusual to depict Jesus & co. as if they were members of other groups. They've been depicted as hippies, as Native Americans, or Latin Americna revolutionaries, African Americans, etc. Or in Godspell, where Jesus is literally a clown.
And look at pretty much every production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" ever made - I've seen Simon wearing a Che t-shirt, or Herod looking like a mobster, and Jesus always ends up looking like he just wandered out of Woodstock. Not to mention that in Jesus Christ Superstar, whatever else they may be being portrayed as, Jesus and the disciples are invariably at heart a bunch of gay boys hanging off each other. There's even the JCSS drinking game - watch the movie, drink every time you see a queer person. Though I wouldn't actually recommend this, as it would probably kill you.
All of these depictions, done entirely without malice or intent to degrade.

Um, first of all not all Christians are hypocrits. Some Christians wouldn't find that offensive, some would. I don't like the painting but hey that's just me. And I am a Christian. And I agree with "Mr. Taco", don't lump sum everyone together.

Insofar as it is a parody of Christ's first Mass, it is a bit tasteless. But I think that Da Vinci's The Last Supper is one of those iconic works of art that's just fair game for satire.
As for the painting being "redrawn by a gay," - well, it worked the first time. ;-)

Aye-aye-aye. Enough with the stereotyping! I'm a Christian, and I happen to not find that offensive at all. I find it quite humorous and harmless. In any case, you are no better than the intolerant brand of Christians that don't "get the joke" when you come on here and lump all of us together as a bunch of hypocrites. What does that make you? Hmm...

Since nothing is sacred, can I make fun of Gays and stereotype them or mock them too?
Seems like some folks can dish it out but can't take it.....

i think it's funny...
i think 40 yrs ago - if they were all "straight" someone would be complaining about one of the people in the picture being black.
