Jesus always read the riot act to the pharisees who were the bible scholars of their days. So yes I would say we are imitating Jesus.

Generally yep. Jesus attacked the pharisees, the do-gooding fundamentalists, more than the liberals (though He dug into them now and then).
Bible-believing Christians affirm Jesus' principles, but put greater emphasis on being against liberalism than against fundamentalism. Partly because of later letters i.e. Romans on having that same emphasis.

Jesus did not "attack" but he sure knew how to get their attention with their bogus Christianity. Remember how he told the Pharisses that they were ever leaning and never coming to the knowlege of truth? Jesus had a way with His words that brought condemnation upon whom he was talking too without saying "you are wrong." Guilt aways does that. Remember how he use the words, you without sin cast the first stone? We are to act the same way Jesus acted but how many of us do? Good question though.

Imitating Jesus would be selling all your possessions and giving the money to the poor, and helping the needy. Bible-believing Christians should do what their holy book says lest they be hypocrites.

Who says that people who do not take the bible literally but believe in Christ as their saviour are not Christians? Isn't that totally arrogant of them? Are they indeed imitating the pharacies of the bible, the very ones who had Jesus put to death for not agreeing with them?
I ask these questions in all innocence as i know nothing of these things.

depends on who you are, if you call yourself bible believing christian you are more than likely a fundamentalist/protestant.
catholics are bible believing christians but usually distinguish themselves by the term catholic. most fundamentalists/protestants consider catholicism to be "bogus" though this is simply not true, from whatever perspective a christian attacking another christian is certainly not imitating jesus.

what do you mean by attack? like brutal verbal attack like the hypocrites do? or merely pointing out the ways that they do not follow scripture? jesus was one not to mince words..in the gospels though there was no "christianity" , but they did have bogus religion running israel, the pharisees and sadducees. and jesus had called them many things like; white washed tombs which are nice on the outside but inside are filled with dead men's bone and everything vile, children of the devil, hypocrites, slaves of sin, show-offs, people-pleasers instead of God pleasers. the list goes on and on and on. it was not to spew hate, but to shake them up and show them the true state their souls were in. now as i said in the start their is a difference between the sinless son of God speaking boldy like christ did and forgiven wretched sinners speaking hatefully to eachother.
so imitating jesus would be to speak the truth of God boldly as he did all the while looking at yourself with sober judgment. we are not worthy of being close to God, just forgiven so that we can be.

Very much so. Have you read the first part of Revelation? It starts off mentioning seven churches, most of them he had 'somewhat against' them.
And then there was all the trouble that Paul and John had with the churches under their care. Have you ever read 1 & 2 Corinthians? Those people had all sorts of problems. Paul spent most of his time with them trying to get them to be spiritual.
So it looks like you need to read a bit. The answer is a resounding 'yes' , and it shows that you need to read it just to get the answer solidified in your own mind.

Not that we can ascertain, because there is no recorded event in the bible of Jesus attacking bogus Christianity.
