Why can't you just go on about your OWN business and stop hating?

And yes, there is a difference between proselytizing and telling someone they're wrong. When going out, trying to "convert" people you don't go "hey...your religion is wrong!" you say "have you heard about...blah blah blah"

If you want someone to leave their faith and join yours(or the lack there of) why not leave out the insults. Face it...no one likes insults, so if you insult them, why would they like your faith?

The Bible clearly approves of slavery in many passages, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

'However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way.

And don't tell me that it was necessary for survival. Today there are also millions of starving and unemployed people around the world. Does that mean that they must be slaves then? Furthermore, why should God treat Israelites better than others? Is it necessary to for God to approve of slave beating? And what's up with allowing masters to have sex with their slaves?

Im kind of going through a crisis of faith. Im not an atheist by any means, but I am becoming confused by the denominations of Christianity I was raised with (I was raised in Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and a few other churches). Ive tried talking to preachers and such, but they tend to take a literal take on the Bible, and I dont, and the communication just breaks down at that point.

How do I find where I belong? Im not even 100% sure that I am Christian, though I was raised with it. There are so many choices out there, there's got to be something that fits me....right?

I know a lot of people believe in him because he did something. But I never got to know what it is he has done that is so great. (I'm not religious, i was just curious )

So, what did he do that makes him so great.

PS: is God Jesus, or are they two different people. I know Jesus was this guy in Jerusalem, but where did God come in. Is he the same guy.

I mean, I think there are all these dimensions out there that we can't see and that's why every now and then you see like ghosts and stuff.
And it is easy for me to believe in God, but it's the Christian God I don't understand.
Whenever I ask my sister questions (I talk for hours and hours about it with her) and she just says she has no answers and to have faith, but these are basic parts of christianity that don't make sense to me.

I mean I don't understand why God would want me to always be stressed out over this. Why can't he just love me the way I am? I don't want to say I believe in Jesus as a way of bargaining because I feel like that's really insincere and wrong of me. I just want him to do what he wants to do with me and not try to play some game to get into heaven. I mean I don't even care about heaven. I just want to not make him disappointed

But then my sister says I'm being like influenced by satan. But my mom says not to believe in religion. ANd I'm so confused

Okay so, i have been reading my western civilization textbook, and it seems as if the church/papacy has had to eventually accept so many contradictions through the scientific revolution and enlightenment age, that the bible has been wrong on many occasions. So, for christians out there, how can be sure anything in the bible is remotely correct after all of the stuff already proved wrong? Why listen to the rest of the bible when we today accept science that was condemned centurys ago by the papacy itself, now approving of these ideas?

What is the proper ettiquette? My child was in the hospital for a week and in ICU for several days. My husband missed work and of course we ate fast food every day. My husband traveled back and forth from the hospital to our home a few hours away. My sister has some inlaws that we know casually. They sent a nice card with money in it. They sent $100.00. How do I thank them? My sister said to mention the dollar amount, but is that tacky? How do you thank someone for a money gift, at a time of need? It is not a birthday or wedding gift. Is it tacky to give the amount or should it just say thanks for the generous gift?

one fallacy which was pretty much said by christ himself is that "either you're with him or against him". so basically we are either on god's side or the devil.

so what other fallacies have you noticed in not only christianity, but also other religions(Im pretty sure Islam is bound to have a few as well)

I remember my Elders always refering to it as tin foil.
I have refered to it as aluminum foil since I have been grown. I just didn't realize that there was a difference. You?

The first mass-produced and widely used metal foil was made from tin. Tin foil was replaced by aluminum foil in 1910.

If you are an atheist or agnostic, did you have any words of comfort to offer? If you are Jewish, what words were you able to offer that gave comfort? If you are Christian, what words of comfort were you able to offer?

Ok so we all know about the Adam & Eve fairy tale.

Adam disobeys God by eating the fruit of wisdom hence causing all humanity to feel shame in nudity.

That is why you don't see people walking around naked on the streets.

In other words, humans are born with an inner curse of automatically feeling ashamed of nudity as part of the punishment for Adam eating the fruit.

If we infact did have humans born innately without the shame of nudity we could prove that God is not real since the curse of sin is not fully applying as it should.

Well Christians, I advise you to take a trip to Africa where tribes are walking around the streets clothless and UNASHAMED!

I guess the curse of sin that causes shame in nudity doesn't apply for those African tribe people.

Have I just disproven your religion or what?

If you refuse to bow out, please counter my question with
a straight up answer.

Don't give me a verse or tell me I can't change you.

Don't curse me either.

as a human being, i want to get some feedback about this. Blaise Pascal once wrote that believing in god is better than being athiest because, he said, what really do you have to gain by being athiest? Nothing really, but If you believe in god you at least have the chance to salvation and all that good stuff. BOTTOM LINE: "It is worthwhile to assume that god exists. If he does, then we win all; if he does not, we lose nothing. (Western Civilization, Spielvogel, Jackson J., p 457)"
What do you all think of this out there?

Believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your savior is the core of the Christian belief. But apparently God+Jesus never wen't to China, Australia, Japan, and the list goes on. How are those people supposed to believe in Jesus when He never put a foot-step over there? (I'm referring to the time period during the OT&NT). If those people are exempted from believing in Jesus in order to achieve salvation, what's the whole point of having to believe in Jesus? Clearly, the Christian God was only a God made-up by the Jewish. And the other regions obviously had their made-up God.

Does everyone feel self-concious or worry about how others' see them?
I was looking back at pictures of my grandfather who passed away 4 years ago. He was such a brilliant, fearless man. I was comparing myself to him and wondering if he felt any concerns about the way others' viewed him as I do about myself. I tend to compare myself to others and judge myself. I worry about what other people think of me and at times feel like I don't measure up. Then I look at my grandfather and I could never imagine him having self doubt. Did he worry about how others' saw him? He wore what was comfortable, ate what he wanted, did what he wanted- I never once saw or heard him not do something because he worried what other people would think about him. Are all older people this way or just my grandpa? Did he have really high self esteem or did I just see no flaws in him? I really think he couldn't care less about what other people thought of him.
