one fallacy which was pretty much said by christ himself is that "either you're with him or against him". so basically we are either on god's side or the devil.

so what other fallacies have you noticed in not only christianity, but also other religions(Im pretty sure Islam is bound to have a few as well)

I think until people find something they feel neutral and somebody tells them that either they're against it or for it they will understand.

I don't know of any fallacies used in "holy books" themselves, but the followers of such books are usually full of them.

For example, the 'magical thinking' fallacy, which means belief that one thing is the cause of the other simply because they occurred together.

X happened, and then Y happened, so X caused Y. I cursed, and then it started to rain, so God hates cursing and was punishing me.

Then, there's the stupid fallacy (as named by me), which states that you're better off believing in God than not because if you're wrong then nothing will happen. But if you're wrong about atheism, then you go to hell.

See, that's not true. If you're wrong about God, there are at least sixty other gods (Zeus, Odin, Ra?) that might be real and would punish you for worshipping someone else. It doesn't matter what you do, you're taking the same chance, and fearing punishment is no reason to follow a religious belief.

I started this a while back. It kinda got left by the wayside. I was going to copy all of the examples of these common fallacies I found people using on this site. As you can see, I just scratched the surface. Maybe someone more ambitious can work on it.

The Theistic argument contains the following Logical Fallacies:

1 - Argumentum ad nauseum (argument to the point of disgust)
Example: “It says in the Bible…”
2 - Argumentum ad populum (argument or appeal to the public)
Example: “The vast majority of people believe in God.”
3 - Argumentum ad verecundiam (argument or appeal to authority)
Example: Brainwashing from birth by parents, teachers, preachers, pastors, priests, etc. Citing the Bible as a source for infallible, unquestionable, and undisputable information is also a Logical Fallacy.
4 – Circulus in demonstrando (circular argument)
Example: “The bible is God’s word because it was inspired by God, so that proves there is a God.”
5 – Non Sequitur (“it does not follow”)
Example: ...
6 – Petitio principii (begging the question)
Example: “How could all this (the universe) have ‘just happened’? There must have been a creator.” If great things like the universe needed a creator then who created God?
7 – Tu quoque (“you too”)
Example: “Atheists believe that there is no God.”
9 – Argumentum ad antiquitatem (argument to antiquity or tradition)
Example: “The Bible is a very old book that people have lived and died by for centuries.”
10 – Argument ad hominem (argument directed at the person)
Examples: “Atheists are evil sinners who will burn in Hell for all eternity for questioning the existence of God.”
“The theory of evolution originated for a cocaine addict, need you hear more??????????”
“they are athiests, they like to waste time...notice, they are thwe ones who think 9/11 was a conspiracy, smoking pot should be legal, and that soldiers are doing harm in iraq......i rest my case”
11 – Argument ad ignorantiam (argument to ignorance)
Example: “There must be a God because you can’t prove there is not.”

I agree with Johnny W. All that and 'the beauty' of anything can be answered by natural sources-all of which have nothing to show or demonstrate that individuals create life. However, there are examples of individuals taking life (dictators...Hmm, maybe that's why there are so many battles for land God 'gives' them).
Oh. That reminds me. God and Jesus are nothing alike and after spending time on here and reading through other responses, I now see that Jesus and God are not the same character-they're nothing alike.

No I know the whole damn thing is a fallacy. All religion is nonsense. You can keep straddling that fence afraid if you come down someone will come up with a new God that you haven't considered.
Good luck.

I swear to dog that christians have no sense of humour. I got reported and deleted for saying something goofy about doctor who. Geez, I can't have any fun around here...
I guess that contradicts that 'joyful noise' business ...or..something..

Jesus does not answer prayer as he promised several times.
Why would God create us knowing our futur that billions of us would be sent to hell and a few would go to heaven.
If God is all knowing and all powerful why does he get so upset and surprised throughout the bible... Did you want me to go on- cuz I can...

If i were God I would skip the trip to hell the tree in Eden and Revelations and just do it right in the first place

That Christians are taught to love their enemies, but it seems that they are the ones most determined to bomb the hell out of them.
