Okay so, i have been reading my western civilization textbook, and it seems as if the church/papacy has had to eventually accept so many contradictions through the scientific revolution and enlightenment age, that the bible has been wrong on many occasions. So, for christians out there, how can be sure anything in the bible is remotely correct after all of the stuff already proved wrong? Why listen to the rest of the bible when we today accept science that was condemned centurys ago by the papacy itself, now approving of these ideas?

You addressed the question to atheists, but it seems to be a challenge against the Bible. Ok, the Bible is wrong. What else would expect from an ancient book written by primitive men in a superstitious time period?

Think of it this way: was the Church/Papacy living up to the standards/teachings of the Bible? Were they making up things and blaming the Bible for their own mistakes? Could they have misinterpreted the Bible which led to so many errors and contradictions? Instead of blaming the Bible, shouldnt the Church have some input to why this occurred?
For one thing, I think the Bible and science work together pretty well. Both provide evidence that there is a God. Science itself helps strengthen the credibility of the Bible and vice-versa.
You said something like the Bible being wrong on many occasions. Could you give me an example?

What is your point? Science is more often than not a dismal failure when it searches for the "truth". When science is successful it is a huge benefit to mankind but it has been wrong on infinitely more occasions than the bible, so how can you be sure anything in science is remotely correct after all of the "scientific" stuff that has already proved wrong? Please explain.

Your questioning God's Word, the Bible and stating that it has been PROVEN WRONG ON MANY OCCASSIONS????? I don't think so! No one has proven anything wrong. You are speaking of the Catholic Church. They are not the rulers on what the Bible is suppose to say. God is. "Woe to them who add to or take away from this Book!"
satan has his hand in making people believe there are falsehoods and contradictions in the Bible . People have been trying to prove that for years. I got news for ya. They haven't proven a thing to me! And, if you are going to make statements like this, you need to say just what it is that was proven wrong, and not just blurt out statements like you did.

Like what things are you speaking of ?? Just what in the Bible has science disproved ??? I KNOW that science has proven the places the Bible speaks of Does in fact exist..... IF you compared the history of the Jewish Nation to the Biblical account of it, I think you would find it ALL true !!!! Science has proven that the parting of the Red Sea could in fact of happened just the way the Biblical account of it said...... Has science found a 3000 yr old man ALIVE that I know nothing about ?? Has he told them what did or did not happen back in the day ??? Has science invented a time travel machine ??? Regardless of what your western civilization textbook has to say, the Bible has never been successfully refuted in any point. When I was a child my textbooks told of how this country was founded by Christians who believed wholeheartedly in the Bible and its Savior.
Textbook are written (and changed) by men.
The Bible was written at and as the Word of God.
As a matter of fact it is so accurate that archaeologists use it to find ancient ruins which they want to explore.
But that aside the only thing really worth considering is the following:
Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, died on the cross to save us from our sin, rose the third day to conquer death for us, ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us, and is coming back to get all who believe this.
Will you believe this?
Would you like to go with Jesus when He returns?

look into the 1000's of scribes that translated and basically screwed up the original scroll writings of the bible. Scribes even added a few things.

There are no contradictions, only misinterpretations. We listen to the rest of the Bible because of faith and because we obey God.
N.B. The Christian Bible is different from the Catholic Bible.
