I discovered Buddhism while working a 12-step program of recovery... it felt miraculous to say the least.

But I wonder about these people who have never walked a mile in anyone elses shoes... Why do they always profess to have had the greatest "awakenings"?

I know you are all quoting the bible, but Jesus did not die for our sins. Jesus died because some wacked out politician was afraid that Jesus was becoming too popular and posed a threat to his rule.

The people were following Jesus, they believed in Jesus, and it scared the current day rulers of Rome. So old Pontious Pilot set Jesus up to die.

Jesus Christ was murdered. It is plan and simple. He did not die for my sins or your sins. To be honest he died for the greed of the leaders of Rome.

When I was a child I found a graveyard deep in the swamp that was long forgotten and cleaned it up.
When I couldn't go home I'd go there and sleep knowing humans feared swamps and grave yards at night, I felt safe there.

Why do humans fear such things?

As some of you know I do not believe in a historical jesus. So I would like to take this opportunity to see if you can convince me. Send me whatever links you want and I will read them. I have done quite alot of research on this subject so I am sure I have seen most of them.

Please don't bother with the Josephus quote as it has been proved to be altered.

If you are going to quote the bible (which I would prefer you wouldn't) please only use the original hebrew tanakh as to say the least I am suspicious of the Septuagint and all of it's "offspring" translations.

The NT does not count.

Bonus points to anyone who can provide me with anything pre Paul and his epistles.

Good Luck

Indeed We have revealed to you the Book with the truth; so worship God, devoting your religion purely to Him.

[39:3]
Surely to God belongs pure religion. And those who take besides Him patrons, [say]: ‘We only worship them so that they may bring us near to God’. God will indeed judge between them concerning that about which they differ. Truly God does not guide one who is a liar, a disbeliever.

[39:4]
Had God wanted to take a son, He could have chosen from what He has created whatever He wished. Glory be to Him. He is God, the One, the All-Compelling.

[39:5]
He created the heavens and the earth with the truth. He turns the night into day, and turns the day into night, and He has disposed the sun and the moon, each running for an appointed term. Verily it is He Who is the Mighty, the [ever] Forgiving.

I am thinking of giving it a try. My friend looks like she stepped out of a department store everyday and she shops for all her things at goodwill. It also serves a good purpose or 2. You can get rid of things you dont need that are still good. The money goes to a good cause.

The upraised middle finger as the oldest offensive salute known to the world. I was wondering where and how did it evolve? Why did it become offensive? Who sanctioned the gesture, to be offensive?
