be given the same kind of belief without scientific proof?
is this a double standard?

Jesus, My†h-Supers†ar....I'm not too up on evolution but isn't it the "process" of evolution not the "theory" that has been proven?

purple_kathryn.evidence of Jesus existence, are you for real? many history books state he was here and confirms they new this...why Cesar Augusta Tiberius even admitted this, and so did JOSEPHUS and MARA BARSARAPION and Julian the Apostate and Pontius Pilate and Tacitus and Pliny and Lucian, not including the Apostles and 500 eye wittness.

it is a scientific fact that if you take some gas, some dirt, and what ever unorganized matter have you... it will never 'evolve' into a complex system no matter how many trillions of years you wait. to beleive in evolution takes some kind of blind faith. man wants to be free from guilt or wrath and live according to whatever he wants. so he just says there is no God therefore making everything lawful... or making nothing unlawful

There are no facts, that's why it's faith, or to some, belief. btw it's impossible to "prove God doesn't exist" it's negative proof, logical fallacy. Believe it or not, not all faith holders are morons. Scientific theories are theories. Educated theories they may be, but theories nonetheless. IMO it's no different to put your faith in a higher power than it is to believe a theory that the common person can neither prove nor disprove themselves. The vast majority of science followers are no more scientifically adept at these principals than is the common person's belief in the "provability" of God. One could ask you: How do you know the earth is round? Unless of course you have NASA on your resume, your belief (make no mistake that's what it is: Def of belief: conclusion derived from trusted source, indirect observation) that the earth is round is based on the observations and calculations of those more involved in these principals than yourself. I put my faith in God, you put your faith in guys in lab-coats or astronaut helmets. To each their own. And I'm sorry that I have to point this out, (to be honest I find this question, and others like it extremely rude, therefore figure my own rudeness will cancel out) but this question that deals in "facts" over "theories" coming from a person believing truth to be subjective is a little contradictory. If it were you defending your own stance, I suppose you'd offer something as arbitrary as "Well it's a fact to me!" Perhaps philosophy of logic should be studied before attempting to refute or prove an argument that is obviously beyond your scope. Otherwise an adaptation of a "live and let live" mantra might be better suited. EDIT: and your assertion that various theories have been proven beyond reasonable doubt? No. Quantum theory, specifically quantum mechanics, happens on a subatomic level. Thereby unobservable, well, no more observable than God that is.

Evolution is both a theory and a fact. I know that is hard for some to wrap their heads around, but it is the case.
The fact of evolution is in the definition--a change in living organisms given a long enough time. You know things change over time, because you can see the various breeds of dogs that have developed from the domesticated wolves. There are millions of other examples of evidence that a change has occurred in living organisms.
The theory of evolution describes the process of how the change occurs--that mutations get passed from parents to offspring through (asexual or sexual) reproduction, and as more and more mutations get passed through and built up in different segments of a population, natural selection forces eventually cause speciation or extinction. Believe in it, accept it, or not, the fact of evolution still occurs.
Luckily for us all, it doesn't take faith in evolution for evolution to still occur. If it took faith, none of us would be here.

except evolution is a proven scientific fact
so
er
your question is a bit pointless
eta: there's no evidence to suggest that either god or jesus exists so it can't be a fact that jesus is the son of god. It can be a belief yes, but unless you can prove it - it's not fact.

Evolution is considered to be fact and theory.
Do you doubt the existence of gravity because it's called the "Theory of Gravity?"
Scientist know gravity exists, they just don't understand exactly how gravity works in the Universe, there are still unanswered questions.
Scientist know life on Earth evolved, they just don't know the exact path of evolution for all life (including humans) on Earth.

It has been proved that life changes over time. These changes accumulate. You're just scared of a word. You can believe in invisible deities if you like, but I won't let you spread your ignorance, superstition and fear. I consider it a noble cause to attack those who try to reduce the gaining of knowledge.

Evolution is just an observation for many years, comparing different species and later formulated, believed and introduced by a man named Darwin. Though many were influenced by his theory...on his deathbed, he asked forgiveness to great God for challenging His Creation theory. At least Darwin knew he misled millions of people and knew well...it is just his human kind of wordly limited thinking.
How can one small human brain challenge a Divine Majestic Being, All Powerful, All Knowing, The King of Kings, The Alpha & The Omega.
If the creator of evolution theory humbled before a God...why still these people continue Darwin`s thinking. They really want their own humble fall.

I expect it is but the same could be said the other way around...Why can't theists consider the theory of evolution rather than asking "who created us then".
However I should point out that there is proof of evolution, even if it's not what most people think it is.For some reason I've noticed that most theists seem to think that evolutionists/atheists think it is proved we come from apes. That was only one theory, we simply share a common ancestor, kinda of like domesticated cats share a common ancestor with lions.

A theory is an explanation based on a set of facts. A theory can be disproved but never proved. Theories can be well reported and regarded as fact by society (i.e. the theory of relativity). The theory of evolution has has evidence that supports it, while creationism lacks evidence. It is not a double standard in that regard.

The scientific evidence supporting the theory of evolution is substantial. We, as puny humans, just don't have all the answers to connect the dots yet.
But God has NEVER, EVER shown himself to any living human being on this planet. No one living today has ever met him or heard him or gotten a text message from him even! There is absolutely NO proof in existence that God is still around, no fossils, no photos, no fingerprints, no DNA, no epithelials, no eye witnesses, no surveillance tapes no recordings. Nada. Zilch.

But busy there is proof of evolution, there is not even evidence of god. The only evidence of god is faith which can not be proved to anyone but ones self.
About 95% of scientists in the feild of evolution accept evolution as fact. In science something does not become a theory until there is verified proof. it is not used in the same manner as it is to the layman. If it were the hypothesis of evolution then it would be on shaky ground.
I hope you will take some time to at least browse throught one or two of the links i will provide, I assure you even though I find it absurd and filled with bad science I have spent lots of time at AIG and a few other creation sites.
