I am thinking of giving it a try. My friend looks like she stepped out of a department store everyday and she shops for all her things at goodwill. It also serves a good purpose or 2. You can get rid of things you dont need that are still good. The money goes to a good cause.

I love the concept of recycle!

I bring things to them and I buy things
Every other Saturday,, things are 50% off

I am such a bargain shopper...I love it

Today I bought a Ralph Lauren Polo T-shirt, it looked new it was 2.99 and at half off was 1.49
then I got a pair of Abercrombie Cargo Shorts it was 99c I got it for 49c

so For about 2 $ I had a new outfit, if I had gone to Abercrombie that would have been at least $48 charge and the Ralph Lauren Tshirt is at least $39 charge
so In all I saved about $85. not bad, a quik wash n dry and I am good to go...

I find all kind of neat things
books, pottery, phone you name it and it goes to a good cause cant beat that...

Give it a shot!!

I have bought a lot of stuff from Goodwill. On MY budget it is about the only thing I can afford.

I got a Donna Karan wool skirt for just $5, and it looks like it has never been worn. So I have absolutely nothing against this. The trick is to pick a Goodwill store that is closest to a well-to-do neighbourhood. Those are the stores that get the very best donations.

Absolutely! Why on Earth someone would want to spend say $20.00 on a good pair of Jeans from say...Wal-Mart, or get the SAME jeans or even a better quality Jeans from Salvation Army or Good will...for say about 4 or maybe 5 dollars...is way beyond me?!
I buy almost everything I own from one or the other store, or similar 2nd Hand stores. If more Americans tooked their used items to these places & then shopped (One man' trash is another man's treasure) then maybe we would all have a little "healthier" planet, with LESS waste going on.
The S.A and Good Will go far beyond just "recycling" they also help the communities in MANY ways!!
Too bad there is such negative stigmatism attached to these places. Though in all fairness & truthfulness, there are SOME of these places that are VERY poorly mis-managed (like your one responder mentioned) but if that is the case, let someone in the "upper management" of that company KNOW & ask if they can do something to change it for the betterment of ALL the community.
I hope that you WILL at least give it a try, and I pray that you will not be disappointed.

Yes, I've shopped at Goodwill. They do have good prices and decent stuff. I worked at a thrift store that bought surplus from another charity. Some of the things came in new. I still take a lot of things there I no longer need.

Yes. There are a lot of people who donate good clothes because they either gained or lost weight and the clothes don't fit, the clothes belong to their kids who moved out and left them behind, or the person who owned the clothes has passed away and the stuff is too nice to throw out.

I have donated some really excellent clothes to the Goodwill because they didn't fit anymore. Also when my grandmother died. She had very expensive stuff. And my mom goes there to buy used purses, books, and once she found a duffle bag in mint condition that she bought because she wanted to store tools and emergency stuff in the trunk of her car. You can get a lot of great stuff at the Goodwill. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

I love shopping there ! The bargains are amazing. My favorite pair of classic black velvet pants cost me $2 at one of those shops, and I have many "designer" blouses which cost the same. Once you get the garment home and put it on, only you will know where it came from. A good tip.....go to a Goodwill store in a high-class area. Well-off people give away their high-quality unwanted clothing , and you get to purchase them for a few bucks. And the charity gets all the profits ! Everybody wins !

Oh yes, I have shopped at Goodwill. I donate items and money to them as well.

On my last trip to Goodwill, I was able to pick up several wood frames for a project I was working on. I ended up paying more for the paint than for the 12 frames I picked up at Goodwill.

You bet! My son's, both in their 20's needed suits. They wouldn't have to wear them often. But as most guys know, when you gotta have one, you gotta have one:-) They picked up some nice men's suits for under $15.00! I use to get my jeans there for under $10.00. I was wearing a size 2 and 4 at the time. I just couldn't find them in the stores for under $50.00(and I wasn't going to pay that much). And most department stores would sell out of that size quickly, because they didn't order many in. SO, I discovered that the Goodwill had plenty to choose from. The sales lady told me, since it was a small size, most folks "tend grow out of them". She was right ;-) We actually have several Goodwill stores in our area. One has been designated a "Boutique". It features, Wedding and prom dresses, women's business suits. Designer Tag items...some with the original price tag still on them.

Yes! I love the stores, many items still have price tags on them too. Goodwill helps so many people in this area and employs people that would otherwise not have a chance., It is a great organization, you will have fun!

Goodwill stores also employ the handicap. Yes, when I lived where there was a Goodwill Store, I did shop there.
