I've noticed that a lot of atheists who accuse some Christians of trying to force others to believe in the Bible sometimes force their own ideas on others as well. For instance, in a lot of debate forums, sometimes you'll see people making fun of someone saying they believe in God, and they'll say things like "What a pity, you're just believing in a lie" instead of being respectful and open-minded to everyone's beliefs. I'm not trying to point fingers or blame anyone, but I just want to know why it's unacceptable for a religious person, usually a christian, to talk about their beliefs, but most people don't get angry when an atheist says stuff like "the bible is full of crap" or "people use religion as a crutch in their life" ?? (by the way, i am in no way saying all non-religious people are like this. i'm just saying, there are quite a few people like that)

I have often been told that here are biblical passages which say that God allows for the state to execute people. Essentially, God condones the death penalty by the state. I find this to be a rather weak argument in arguing FOR the use of the death penalty today.

There is so much more in the bible about loving everyone, even your enemies - even those who HATE you and would try to do you the worst possible harm.

And Jesus came to save people. All can be redeemed through Him. So killing someone would take away this as a possible fate of a person's soul.

Jesus also tells us to forgive.

Therefore, while the Bible may in some passages that state authorized execution is okay, the best arrangement for our society is to never kill any person, accept in the immediate need for self defense. This policy would be supported by all of the other Biblical teachings about preserving life, loving sinners (but not their sins), and forgiveness.

Your thoughts?

will convince me otherwise. There was only one queen when Diana was alive and it was not Elizabeth and if she had lived it would not have been ither. It would have been a truly different kind of Monarchy. Do you think the mother in law was going to let this happen when she had done everything to preserve it all these years. Diana was also getting involved in Polatics with the landmine thing she was getting far to powerful and sulky Charles has always wanted a say in Polatics. Bumbed off definately what do you think?

It's like they can't disprove anything. Why would they even waste their time for a stupid reason. God refers to god so try to disprove god not jesus. God created us period. You can store tons of info into one human cell of dna so if that cell happened By chance where did the info in the dna come from. You try shoving all that info into dna into a cell. It's hard. well god does it over and over in 1 week of pregnancy.

If you dont know than I give up.

the biggest problem today is id say the people not the religions. In my sense i will never follow a religion where i see you in it and then see you barking and shouting like half the other world.
heres my advice or belife
-Jesus is great because of what he says and believes, not the small details we stick our egos in (son of god or prophet...who cares the words are the same)
-Treat him as a prophet (son of god i dont care) not a leader..why would you kill for him when that goes kinda against him...love?!!
-If you belive in god and someone doesnt and the other way around, why do you care? religion or belife isnt to strenghten your ego but your head so i dont know use it and try something like learning
-If your faith is strong in whatever it should not be defended but thinking
-There was corruption in catholic and christian and maybe others but accept that because who ran that but people BUT has no difference in the beliefs
to end it i just say shut up and enjoy what you know

Ok i dreamed that i was cleaning my drive way and i saw movement in the leaves and it was a black snake i grabed it rite below the head and squezed as hard as i could so it could not breath. But it was still moving so i cut it with a knife below where i was holding it at when i cut it i could see inside it and the snake was still alive so in my head i said im going to cut the heart and that will kill it. Then all of a sudden the snake stoped moving and i thought it was dead but for som odd reason that was not good enough i still wanted to cut its heart out of spite as soon as i got about a inch away from cutting the snake heart it turned and bit me on the the hand in between my thumb and pointer finger and then i woke up. What does this mean help please!!!

When people find out I ran away from home, they give me funny looks or remark that it was a very immature thing to do. In my case it was either leave secretly or get screamed at and beat up in the process.
Some kids are better off 'running away'.
So why is there such a stigma of immaturity attached to it?

couldnt be true that the theory of evolution is true? That reincarnation is the only theoretical embodiment of the after life? perhaps jesus was like charles manson you know? I mean heaven, hell is it truely theoretical that an area of fire and brimstone with a guy with horns and a pitchfork is waiting for u? or a white male in the clouds just choosing it all mean if u think about it god is technically a mass murderer he kills in the dozens and if we were created in his image how are the serial killers and child molesters made i mean i thought satan had no say in creation of people so really help me on this

Ok....so as the incredible mutations happened....

did they have to happen equally to a male and female of the mutating species?

Or did the mutant have sex with a normal non mutant, producing anther stage of mutation?

Do you know the odds of this? Roughly? I'd like a link or a hard number...not just "small"

thanks

Through the evolutionary process how does information increase on the genome? Or in other words how can point mutations create new chromosomes or lengthen a strand of DNA? I.e. mice have 20 chromosones , humans have 23 and dogs have 39. How can genetic mutations create new chromosones?

I doubt that anyone can give me a satisfactory answer (but if you can provide a link) because this is one of the holes in the theory. And no this is not creationists propaganda, but a genuine question about the theory.

I'm really disappointed with the Religion and Spirituality section here, but that's beside the point. I am interested in the myriad Pagan sects there are out there. I feel as though I may fit into one of them, but there seem to be so many options, that I'm not sure. Can someone explain to me the main ideas? I know Pagan is a general term. I think I'm more interested in Celtic Paganism, but since I don't really know what that means, I'm not sure that's correct. Thanks for any help. (To Christians who want to tell me I am going the wrong way- I get it, I was raised Christian, I've studied the Bible backwards, forwards, and inside out, multiple translations, in multiple ways. I have my own theories on that, so don't bother.)

I would like to know if God forgives people for their past mistakes. I have mad some silly choices in the past.

Also, I often wonder when a relative passes away, are they able to see all of the silly stuff you have done in the past? that worries me a lot.
