I uh..hope I spelled that right. Anyway, let's say, I'm 17 (which I am), and that I'm an atheist (which I am). Now let's get fictional and say I never believed in any God or deity, or Jesus or any storybook. Now: I'm 17, and have been atheist all my life.- But not for lack of wanting to believe in God or Jesus. (We'll assume Biblegod and his wedlock, Jewish zombie son are the only other alternatives). Let's say the reason is, is that I've been waiting for a sign. Some sort of devine intervention in my life. Something noticable that couldn't had possibly ben done by any man or act of nature, something that Jesus was doing to make me believe. But I've seen nothing, felt nothing, and in lack of the apparent existance of Jesus, I remain atheist until fruther notice. Will I go to hell?

For that matter, isn't that the plight of EVERY atheist? Surely no atheist who 'felt' the presence or existance of Jesus or biblegod would continue to be atheist. Why do we go to hell, if we are WAITING?

Revelation 13
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

Many older workers are the first to go when a company downsizes and jobs are cut. It's tough to find a comparible position with adequate pay and benefits. A friend of mine went from being a company executive to a job in the sporting goods section at Wal-Mart. It was the best job he could find with health insurance benefits. I know he's not the only one with this type of experience. What's going on in this country?

and that african americans should be able to mary who they want, vote, get tax benefits, have children, get estate benefits, get hospital visitation rights for their spouce, get decision making rights for their spouce. Very few people would dissagree with this correct? And that it is inhumane, unjust and wrong to deny them these benefits based upon their color?

Why is it still acceptable to deny these rights to Homosexuals. They are our brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends. They work in every business but still struggle for the same benefits that everyone else enjoyes and takes for granted. Why is this acceptable?

One thing I've never understood is the willingness of Christian writers to put words in Jesus's mouth. (I can only think of Milton in Paradise Lost and C.S. Lewis in the Narnia books, if you accept Aslan as Jesus). How could a sinner imagine what Jesus would say? How could he or she presume to know? If Jesus said heaven and earth would pass away, but his words would never pass away, surely counterfeiting those words is very questionable? (If you're not a Christian or you regard religion with contempt, obviously this question would not be relevant to you, so please ignore it.)

I was reading a book that sparked the question and just wanted to see some other opinions because if you really think about it, you sacrifice something for complete freedom... So does that make us slaves?

Every time I ask someone why they relax their hair, they tell me "Oh, because it's more manageable."

Really?

Last I checked:

-Retouches have to be done every 4-6 weeks and cost $30-$65 depending on where you go
-You can't get your hair wet at all, and if you do, you have to spend a hefty amount of time getting it "straight" again
-After washing the hair, you have to condition it and waste precious time under the hair dryer so that the conditioner sets well
-You have to wrap your hair every night to prevent breakage and such

Not to mention the damage that the dangerous chemicals in relaxers have on the hair that:
-Prevent it from growing
-Damage the scalp
-Result in hair scalp
-Thin the hair
-Smell effin' horrible

Now, ladies, what gives?

"You're just shifting the explanation (how the universe exists) to something imaginary and unexplainable (god). Why not just try to understand the universe instead?"

I ask a question and that was one of the responses I received. So, I'm asking how could that person have said that a higher being would be imaginary? I mean I am just looking at the possibilities here. I did not say that since science doesnt know it's DEFINITELY GOD. I am simply saying that there could be a higher being.

I mean the universe is huge and we just about don't understand it at all. So, the possibilities are great.

And directed to the person who responded with that, how about you understand the universe...and actually answer my question next time?

Discuss.

I work at a low-key motel where I am able to read, surf the internet, and do homework when not busy. The maintanance man likes to come and talk to me for a really long time when he sees that I'm reading or something. I have tried looking disinterested, getting back to my book, etc. He's a very nice man and I don't want to be rude, but sometimes he won't leave even when he sees that the conversation is dying! By the way, it's not like a good conversation that can be fun with your co-workers (I love talking with my other front desk co-workers). This man is much older and really has nothing to say, but likes to ramble a lot.

We've been thinking about looking into getting a Carer/Home Help because we are both registered disabled and are finding certain things very difficult to do at the moment. does anyone get this sort of help and what can they do or aren't allowed to do? Also, how much does it cost? We're on some benefits...DLA, Industrial Injuries and Income Support. Honest answers please. Thanks in advance. xx

I am. I don't know what all these Christian groups are talking about when they refer to the HUGE GUILT women have afterwards... I had one when I was 19..birth control failed, I was not in a position to care for a child at that point, financially or otherwise, and now I have two wonderful children. I've never looked back, and have never felt sad or guilty about it. Not many people talk about this kind of thing, but I know there are people like me out there, arent' there?
