Six hundred threescore and six is 666, not .66repeating.
Why do you get to pick and choose what parts of the bible to take literally?

The number of the beast
In Revalation 13.18, the author says "Let anyone with understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person. It's number is 6 hundred and 66." In Hebrew letters are also used as numbers, the figure 666 is reached by adding up the numerical values of the hebrew's letters Qsr Nrwn which transliterate the Greek Kaisar Neron(Emperor Nero) the beast of Revelation.
q = 100
s = 60
r = 200
n = 50
r = 200
w = 6
n = 50
----------
666

In Revelation, 666 stands for:

6th Trump,
6th Vial,
6th Seal
hence 666

"And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God." - Zechariah 13:8,9.
two parts (2/3) = .666
one part (1/3) = .333
666 is a highly spiritual and symbolic number pointing to all the unsaved, hence the MARK (spiritual, not physical).

before i answer you need to know about the great controversy which is between God and Satan. the controversy is between whom shall man serve God or Satan and that comes down to one word worship. to whom will i worship? then the next thing is how do you show to whom you worship?
King James Version (KJV)
Exodus 20:8-11
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Rev 14:12
12Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
From this we see that a day shows worship to the Creator the seventh day the sabbath day and the seventh day of the week is Saturday.
In regards to the mark of the beast, it's also a day of worship which is the oppposite of the biblical day of worship which is Sunday which many honest people believe is the day of worship because Jesus ressurrected on Sunday. Man changed the day of worship not God.
Finally it's not someting literal in the sense of marks but into acts of whom we worship and when and how.

2 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 11 - 13 - 17
(2x2)+(3x3)+(5x5)+(7x7)+(11x11)+(13x13)+(17x17) = 666
